David Rodgers (March 27, 1936 – August 10, 1993) was an American country music artist. Between 1968 and 1984, Rodgers charted thirty-seven single (music), singles on the ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' Hot Country Songs chart, reaching Top Ten with the hits, "Need You" and "Loving You Has Changed My Life," both at No. 9. In the same timespan, he recorded several studio albums on the Columbia Records, Columbia, Atlantic Records, Atlantic and United Artists Records, United Artists labels. David Arthur Rogers (12 March 1921 – 23 November 2020) was Archdeacon of Craven from 1977 to 1986. Early life Rogers was born in a South Yorkshire vicarage in 1921, the son and grandson of clergymen. He was educated at Aysgarth School in Bedale, and St Edward's School, Oxford. Military At the start of WWII Rogers joined the Oxford City Local Defence Volunteers, and then, in 1940, the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment as a private soldier. In 1941 he was commissioned into the Green Howards Regiment, and later the Royal Armoured Corps. Later in the War, he served in the GHQ Liaison Regiment (Phantom) under Field Marshal Montgomery. Career He read Classics at Christ's College, Cambridge and trained for ordination at Ridley Hall, Cambridge. He was ordained deacon in 1949, and priest in 1950. David McGregor Rogers (1917–1995) was a British librarian and bibliographer who was Head of Special Collections at the Bodleian Library from 1978 until his retirement in 1984. Life Rogers was born in India on 29 May 1917, the son of an officer in the Indian Army, and spent his early childhood there. He was educated at Downside School and at New College, Oxford. After serving in India and Burma during the Second World War, he returned to Oxford University and completed a doctorate with a thesis on clandestine Catholic printing in England during the late 16th and early 17th centuries. This was the first doctorate awarded at Oxford University for a thesis in the field of bibliography.
