David Rainey (footballer)
David Rainey (born 6 April 1976) is a retired footballer from Northern Ireland who played as a striker, and is currently assistant manager at Crusaders. Club career Early career Davy previously played for Glentoran and Ards. He won many trophies while in East Belfast, including an Irish League title and Irish Cup medal. While with Ards, he won the Irish First Division title in 2001. Crusaders In 2005, he dropped down a division to join Crusaders, for whom he hit 30 goals in his first season to ensure immediate promotion, as well as winning the Intermediate League Cup and Steel & Sons Cup. In the following season in the top flight, he scored 13 goals overall, 2 behind the Crues' top scorer Davy Larmour. In the 2007–08 season he scored in the 2008 CIS Cup Final, but two late Linfield goals ensured the Crues' were defeated 3–2. Cliftonville is a coastal area of the town of Margate, situated to the east of the main town, in the Thanet district of Kent, South East England, United Kingdom. The 2012 Setanta Sports Cup was the seventh staging of the annual All Ireland, all-Ireland association football competition. It commenced on 11 February 2012 and ended on 12 May 2012, with the final played at The Oval (Belfast), The Oval, Belfast. Gold Cup (Northern Ireland)
The Gold Cup is a defunct cup competition which involved competitors from Ireland and from 1921 onwards, just for Northern Ireland. It was initially run by the New Irish Football Association but later, and mainly, by the Irish Football Association. The competition was first played in the 1911–12 season after seven of the eight participating clubs left the IFA (only Linfield remained) after a dispute over money and founded the New IFA. This new organisation introduced the cup as the "New Irish Cup". At the end of the season after many discussions, the dissident clubs returned to the IFA and the tournament was not held in 1912-13. However, it was revived by the IFA in 1913–14 season. In the seasons 1915–16 to 1918–19 season it was played in a league format. Curry Mulholland (died 2002) was a Northern Irish footballer, and former leading goalscorer for Crusaders F.C. Crusaders Football Club is a professional Northern Irish football club, playing in the NIFL Premiership, highest level of the Irish League. Glenn Hunter (footballer)
Glenn Cyril Hunter (born 1967) is a former Crusaders footballer and held the club's goalscoring record with 157 goals in 296 appearances, breaking the record of Curry Mulholland, which had stood for almost 40 years before being surpassed by Jordan Owens in January 2016. The Setanta Sports Cup was a club football competition featuring teams from both football associations on the island of Ireland. Inaugurated in 2005, it was a cross-border competition between clubs in the League of Ireland from the Republic of Ireland and the NIFL Premiership from Northern Ireland. Michael Halliday (footballer)
Michael Halliday (born 28 May 1979) is a footballer from Northern Ireland who plays in the NIFL Championship for Knockbreda. Halliday is from East Belfast and started his career at Glentoran (of whom he is a lifelong supporter), where he played for 11 years and won many trophies. Due to his loyalty the club, he was offered a testimonial in 2009. On 15 May 2010, Halliday signed a 3-year contract with North Belfast club Crusaders. He arrived on a free transfer after being released from Glentoran by new manager Scott Young at the end of the 2009/2010 season.
