David Muise
David Nelson Muise (September 22, 1949 – November 2, 2017) was a Canadian politician. He was mayor of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia from 1997 to 2000. He also represented the electoral district of Cape Breton West in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1978 to 1981. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. Early life and education Born in 1949 at Sydney, Nova Scotia, Muise was a graduate of Mount Allison University (B.A.), and Dalhousie University (LL.B). Political career He entered provincial politics in the 1978 election, winning the Cape Breton West riding. He was defeated by Progressive Conservative "Big" Donnie MacLeod when he ran for re-election in 1981. Sydney, Nova Scotia
Sydney is a former city and urban community on the east coast of Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada within the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. Sydney was founded in 1785 by the British, was incorporated as a city in 1904, and dissolved on 1 August 1995, when it was amalgamated into the regional municipality. Sydney served as the Cape Breton Island's colonial capital, until 1820, when the colony merged with Nova Scotia and the capital moved to Halifax. Mount Allison University
Mount Allison University (also Mount A or MtA) is a Canadian primarily undergraduate liberal arts university located in Sackville, New Brunswick, founded in 1839. A nova (plural novae or novas) is a transient astronomical event that causes the sudden appearance of a bright, apparently "new" star (hence the name "nova", which is Latin for "new") that slowly fades over weeks or months. Cape Breton County, Nova Scotia
Cape Breton County is one of eighteen counties in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. It is located on Cape Breton Island. From 1879 to 1995, the area of the county excluded from towns and cities was incorporated as the Municipality of the County of Cape Breton to provide local government services. Since 1995 the only municipality in the county has been a single-tier municipality called Cape Breton Regional Municipality. For statistical purposes, the First Nations reserves of Eskasoni 3 and Membertou 28B are included in the county, but are separate entities.
