David McLellan (Ontario Politician)
David McLellan (January 11, 1841 – March 16, 1892) was mayor of Hamilton, Ontario from 1890 to 1891. He was born in Toronto, the son of Malcolm McLellan and Agnes Bennett, both natives of Scotland. McLellan was educated there and worked in Toronto for four years before moving to Buffalo and then Louisville, Kentucky. He married Elizabeth Dittey in 1864. He returned to Canada in 186and found work with Robert H. Gray, going on to become a partner in the business. McLellan went to Hamilton to open a new branch office in 1871. In 1877, he became an agent for the Royal Insurance Company of England. Hamilton is a port city in the Canadian province of Ontario. Hamilton has a population of 569,353, and its census metropolitan area, which includes Burlington and Grimsby, has a population of 785,184. Wentworth County, Ontario
Wentworth County, area , is a historic county in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was created in 1816 as part of the Gore District (1816-1849) in what was then Upper Canada and later Canada West (1841-1867). It was named in honour of Sir John Wentworth, the last royal governor of colonial New Hampshire, lieutenant-governor of Nova Scotia (1792 to 1808) and an intimate friend of William Jarvis, the first provincial secretary of Upper Canada. The county originally consisted of seven townships that formerly belonged to Haldimand, Lincoln and York Counties. Between 1850 and 1854, Wentworth County and Halton County were briefly joined for government purposes as the United Counties of Wentworth and Halton although for administrative purposes, they remained distinct.
