David Kenny (hurler)
David Kenny (born 1987) is an Irish hurler who plays for Offaly Senior Championship club Belmont. He is a former player and selector at inter-county level with the Offaly senior hurling team. Career Kenny made his first appearance for the team during the 2007 championship and has become a regular player over the last few seasons. During that time he has enjoyed little success, however, he has won a National League (Division 2) winners' medal and a Walsh Shield winners' medal. At club level Kenny plays with Belmont. Belmont GAA
Ferbane/Belmont GAA is a football club in the Gaelic Athletic Association located in Ferbane in County Offaly, Ireland, 13 miles from Birr. The Ferbane GAA field is located in the town of Ferbane on the Ballycumber Road. Ferbane play in the Offaly championship. Ferbane holds the record for the club with the longest continuous sponsorship deal in Gaelic football. Honours Football Ferbane enjoyed most of their success in the '80s and start of '90s where they won a 5 in a row of Offaly Senior Football Championship titles from 1986–90 and also a Leinster Senior Club Football Championship title in 1986 beating Portlaoise. Fitzgibbon Cup
The Fitzgibbon Cup ( ga, Corn Mhic Giobúin) is the trophy for the premier hurling championship among higher education institutions (universities, colleges and institutes of technology) in Ireland. The Fitzgibbon Cup competition is administered by Comhairle Ard Oideachais Cumann Lúthchleas Gael (CLG), the GAA's Higher Education Council. Comhairle Ard Oideachais also oversees the Ryan Cup (tier 2 hurling championship), the Fergal Maher Cup (tier 3 hurling championship) and the Padraig MacDiarmada (tier 4 hurling championship). The GAA Higher Education Cups are sponsored by Electric Ireland. Joe Bergin (hurler)
Joseph Bergin (born 22 September 1987) is an Irish hurler who plays for Offaly Championship club Seir Kieran. He was a member of the Offaly senior hurling team for 14 seasons, during which time he usually lined out as a full-forward. Playing career Seir Kieran Bergin joined the Seir Kieran club at a young age and played in all grades at juvenile and underage levels, enjoying championship success in the under-21 grade in 2008. Offaly Minor and under-21 Bergin first played for Offaly as a member of the minor team during the 2004 Leinster Championship. He made his first appearance on 10 April when he came on as a 23rd-minute substitute for Colin O'Meara in a 0-14 to 1-10 defeat of Laois. Bergin was again eligible for the minor team for the 2005 Leinster Championship, however, his tenure in the grade ended without success. Shane Dooley
Shane Dooley (born 26 September 1986) is an Irish hurler who currently plays as a right corner-forward for the Offaly senior team. Born in Tullamore, County Offaly, Dooley was born into a strong hurling family. His paternal and maternal granduncles as well as his grandfather enjoyed All-Ireland success with the Offaly junior team in 1923 and 1929. His father, Joe Dooley, and his uncles, Johnny and Billy Dooley, won seven All-Ireland medals between them between 1985 and 1998. Dooley first played competitive inter-county hurling and Gaelic football with Tullamore College. Here he won a Leinster Vocational Schools Junior B Championship medal and an All-Ireland Vocational Schools Championship medal. Walsh Cup (hurling)
The Walsh Cup ( ga, Corn Bhreatnach) is an annual hurling competition staged in Ireland by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) since 1954. Contested by the top county teams from the provinces of Leinster, Ulster and Connacht, the tournament consists of a round-robin group stage, followed by a knockout stage. Formerly ponsored by Bord na Móna, it was known as the "Bord na Móna Walsh Cup". Prior to 2018, third-level colleges also competed. The Walsh Cup is part of a series of GAA tournaments known as the Leinster GAA Series, along with the Kehoe Cup (second-tier hurling teams) and the O'Byrne Cup (Gaelic football). The money generated by these competitions helps address hardship suffered by players and ordinary members of the GAA in Leinster.
