David Joshua Davies
David Joshua Davies (1877–1945) was a Welsh dramatist. His parents were John and Mary (née Evans) Davies. He began his career as an apprentice in an ironmonger's store in Swansea, but went on to earn his living as a shopkeeper, managing the Co-operative store in Llanarth for a while, and later a shop and the post office in Pont-rhyd-y-groes. His writings include the play 'Maes y Meillion' (which won a prize at the National Eisteddfod in Neath in 1918), and the play 'Owen Glyndŵr'. Swansea

Llanarth, Ceredigion
Llanarth is both a small village and a community in Ceredigion, Wales. It is on the A487 road and is about from both Aberaeron and New Quay. The community includes the village of Synod Inn. Church The parish church of St David's, once dedicated to St Fylltyg, is a Grade II* listed building. It was renovated in 1872. A stone in the churchyard is sometimes pointed out as bearing the Devil's footprint. According to legend, he was trying to steal one of the church's bells one night but woke the vicar, who drove him off. He left the footprint as he fled. Pont-rhyd-y-groes (also known as Pontrhydygroes, en, the bridge of the ford of the cross) is a village near Cwm Ystwyth and Pont ar Fynach (Devil's Bridge), in Ceredigion, Wales. The village takes its name from the bridge ( cy, pont) and (earlier) ford ( cy, rhyd) over the River Ystwyth. The area used to be dominated by the mining industry, in particular by the Lisburnes. New Quay ( cy, Cei Newydd) is a seaside town (and electoral ward) in Ceredigion, Wales, with a resident population of around 1,200 people, reducing to 1,082 at the 2011 census.
