David Connolly Hall (May 1, 1875 – May 27, 1972) was an American middle distance runner. He was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada and died in Seattle. He won the bronze medal in the 800 metres track and field race at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris Paris () is the capital and most populous city of France, with an estimated population of 2,165,423 residents in 2019 in an area of more than 105 km² (41 sq mi), making it the 30th most densely populated city in the world in 2020. Dave Hall (Dayton Mayor)
Dave Hall (July 13, 1906 – August 22, 1977) was an American politician and businessman who served as the mayor of Dayton, Ohio, from 1966 to 1970. Early life Hall was born on July 13, 1906, in Miamisburg, Ohio. Career He worked in real estate development and owned a laundry business that he sold in 1953. In 1962, he was appointed to the Dayton City Commission. He ran for mayor in 1965, defeating Don Crawford, a fellow commissioner. After his victory, he told talk show host Phil Donahue that being mayor would be “the greatest thing since Ex-Lax”. During his term, he had to face race riots in 1966, after the shooting of a black man by whites. He won re-election in 1969 but did not serve out his second term. Hall resigned as mayor in May 1970 because of health problems. He was succeeded by City Commissioner James McGee, who became Dayton's first African American mayor. David Hall (1714 – December 24, 1772) was a British printer who immigrated from Scotland to America and became an early American printer, publisher and business partner with Benjamin Franklin in Philadelphia. He eventually took over Franklin's printing business of producing official documents for the colonial province of Pennsylvania and that of publishing '' The Pennsylvania Gazette'' newspaper that Franklin had acquired in 1729. Hall formed his own printing firm in 1766 and formed partnership firms with others. He published material for the colonial government. David Hall (15 February 1928 – 15 June 2016) was a New Zealand chemist, best known as an X-ray crystallographer. Biography A student at Auckland University College, Hall graduated Master of Science in 1950 and a PhD in 1955. The title of his thesis was ''The Crystal Structure of Formamidoxine''. He was one of the first research students in New Zealand in the area of X-ray crystallography, following the establishment of that research area at Auckland University College by John Llewellyn in 1948. The subject of both his master's and doctoral theses was the crystal structure of formamidoxine. Hall was appointed to the academic staff of the Department of Chemistry at Auckland in 1950, and following the departure of Llewellyn in 1956, he became head of the crystallography research group. David Hall is an Irish businessman and campaigner. Hall is currently best known as the owner of Lifeline Ambulance Services and chief executive officer of the Irish Mortgage Holders Organisation and cofounder of iCare Housing. Hall is also the former interim CEO of the former scandal hit charity Console. Hall studied at St. Patrick's College, Maynooth where he was elected Students Union, Vice-President in 1990. In 2013, he unsuccessfully took the government to court over the issuing and payment of promissory notes, which he appealed to the Supreme Court of Ireland. Hall owns and runs the Lifeline ambulance service. He founded the '' Make a Wish Foundation Ireland'' in 1992, and also served as chairman of the ''Marie Keating Foundation''.
