David Gibson (musician)
David Gibson is a Canadian pop-rock singer. He received a Juno Award nomination for Most Promising Male Vocalist in 1987. Career Shortly after leaving school, Gibson toured Canada and Europe with various bands and began writing songs with Robert Uhrig. In the mid 1980s, after recording a six-track demo of original songs written with Uhrig, Gibson was offered a recording deal with Loose End Records in London. The company subsequently dissolved during contract negotiations. Upon returning to Canada, Gibson met guitarist/producer Domenic Troiano. Gibson signed with Troiano's Black Market label, and "Lock Up My Heart" was recorded and released in the summer of 1986. The single was accompanied by a video directed by Stephen Reynolds. Juno Award
The Juno Awards, more popularly known as the JUNOS, are awards presented annually to Canadian musical artists and bands to acknowledge their artistic and technical achievements in all aspects of music. New members of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame are also inducted as part of the awards ceremonies. The ''Vancouver Sun'', also known as the ''Sun'', is a daily broadsheet newspaper based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The newspaper is currently published by the Pacific Newspaper Group, a division of Postmedia Network. Domenic Troiano
Domenic Michele Antonio Troiano (January 17, 1946 – May 25, 2005) was a Canadian guitarist and songwriter, best known as a member of Mandala, Bush, James Gang, and The Guess Who. He also recorded music for film and television, often made guest appearances on other musicians' albums, and worked as a producer. Biography Troiano was born in Modugno, Italy, and his family emigrated to Toronto, Ontario during his childhood. He became a Canadian citizen in 1955. His first professional music work was in the early 1960s with a band fronted by Ronnie Hawkins. In 1965 Troiano joined a local Toronto band called the Five Rogues, which later found success as Mandala. The band achieved several hit singles in Canada, and played several times in the United States. Mandala disbanded in 1969, after which Troiano and some of the other members formed the new band Bush. The ''Nanaimo Daily News'' was a Canadian daily newspaper published weekdays in Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island in British Columbia for 141 years until ceasing publication in January 2016. The paper's final owner was Black Press, which also publishes the ''Alberni Valley Times'' and the ''Ladysmith-Chemainus Chronicle'', and several other weekly newspapers on the island.
