Dave Bowen
David Lloyd Bowen (7 June 1928 – 25 September 1995) was a Welsh football player and manager, who captained his country to their first ever World Cup finals, in 1958. Playing career Born in Maesteg, Bowen first played for Northampton Town. He had only played 12 times for Northampton before catching the eye of Pat Whittaker, son of Arsenal manager Tom Whittaker. He was duly signed by Arsenal in the summer of 1950 as an understudy to Joe Mercer at wing half. He made his debut against Wolves on 24 March 1951, but only made a handful of appearances between 1951 and 1954, when Mercer finally retired due to injury. Arsenal won the old First Division in 1952–53 but he only made two league appearances all season. In 1954–55 Bowen became a regular in the Arsenal side, and would continue to be for the rest of the decade. David Bowen (born January 28, 1987) is an American politician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 10th Assembly district from 2015 through 2022. He previously served on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. Early life and education Bowen was born in Milwaukee, the son of Jamaican immigrants. He graduated with honors from Bradley Tech High School in 2005. He participated in the youth leadership program of the Milwaukee non-profit organization Urban Underground and the Americorps program, Public Allies. He volunteered with Urban Underground attending the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, studying educational policy and community studies. David James Bowen (1925 – 3 August 2017) was a Welsh scholar and expert on the work of Welsh poets of the nobility. He was born in Pembrokeshire, and attended grammar school in Fishguard, where he was influenced by David John Williams, one of his teachers. He attended the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, where he became a member of the Welsh Department, and was chair in 1980. He has contributed many learned articles on late medieval Welsh poetry, including the work of Dafydd ap Gwilym, although his main interest was the life and work of poet Gruffudd Hiraethog Gruffudd Hiraethog (died 1564) was a 16th century Welsh language poet, born in Llangollen, north-east Wales. David John "Dai" Bowen (30 July 1891 – 15 April 1912) was a Welsh professional boxer, who died in the sinking of the , along with fellow Welsh boxer Leslie Williams. Youth and training Bowen was born on 30 July 1891 at Baglan Street, Ystradyfodwg, near Treherbert to James Bowen and Leah (née Protheroe), the 7th of 8 children. David Glyn Bowen (1933–2000) was a Welsh Congregationalist minister and missionary. He grew up in the Swansea area and attended Swansea Grammar School (1945–1952). He subsequently studied at University College, Cardiff, graduating in 1955 with an honours degree in Hebrew. He later studied at Memorial College, Brecon (where he began to learn Welsh), and University of Princeton, United States where in 1959 he was awarded the degree of MTh. for a thesis on the Church of South India. On his return to the UK in 1960, he took up the appointment of minister of Castle Street Congregational Church, Tredegar, Monmouthshire.
