David Barrufet
David Barrufet Bofill (born 4 June 1970 in Barcelona, Spain) is a former Spanish handball goalkeeper, who last played for FC Barcelona Handbol during the 2009-10 season. He began playing handball in SAFA Horta school in Barcelona at 8 years old. Six years later he went to F.C. Barcelona for playing in younger categories till 1988, when he played with the professional team. In 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 seasons was elected by International Handball Federation as the best goalkeeper in the world. On 8 February 2010, Barrufet announced his retirement from handball at the end of the 2009-10 season and F.C. Barcelona decided to retire the shirt number 16 on his honor. Team Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it.
