David Asheri
David Asheri (1 November 1925, Florence - 3 February 2000, Jerusalem), born David Bonaventura, was an Italian-Israeli historian. Asheri is regarded as "one of the most distinguished scholars of ancient Greece". He is perhaps best known for his many contributions to the scholarship of Herodotus. Life Asheri was born in Florence into a prosperous Jewish family. His father, Enzo Bonaventura, was a prominent psychologist and intellectual with Zionist sympathies. In 1938, Enzo Bonaventura, because of his Jewish faith, lost his position as Chair of Psychology at the University of Florence under the new race laws. The Cambridge Ancient History
''The Cambridge Ancient History'' is a multi-volume work of ancient history from Prehistory to Late Antiquity, published by Cambridge University Press. The first series, consisting of 12 volumes, was planned in 1919 by Irish historian J. B. Bury and published between 1924 and 1939, co-edited by Frank Adcock and Stanley Arthur Cook. The second series was published between 1970 and 2005, consisting of 14 volumes in 19 books. ''The Cambridge Ancient History'' is part of a larger series of works, along with ''The Cambridge Medieval History'' and ''The Cambridge Modern History'', intended to cover the entire history of European civilisation. Israel Shatzman
Israel Shatzman (25 November 1934 - 24 October 2017) was an Israeli historian. He has been Professor of History at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1976-), a Fellow at the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies and Director at the National Library of Israel (1990-1997). Shatzman was a scholar of ancient Rome and has written extensively on the Roman military. He also has covered Judea in antiquity, both during the pre-Roman Hellenistic period and the rule of the Hasmonean kingdom, as well as the integration into the Roman empire as Roman Judea. Salvatore Settis (born 11 June 1941) is an Italian archaeologist and art historian. From 1994 to 1999 he was director of the Getty Center for the History of Art and the Humanities in Los Angeles and from 1999 to 2010 of the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. Since 2010 he has been honorary president of the Associazione Culturale Silvia Dell'Orso. Arnaldo Momigliano
Arnaldo Dante Momigliano (5 September 1908 – 1 September 1987) was an Italian historian of classical antiquity, known for his work in historiography, and characterised by Donald Kagan as "the world's leading student of the writing of history in the ancient world". Biography Momigliano was born on 5 September 1908 in Caraglio, Piedmont. In 1936 he became Professor of Roman History at the University of Turin, but as a Jew soon lost his position due to the anti-Jewish Racial Laws enacted by the Fascist regime in 1938, and moved to England, where he remained.
