Dave Elder (politician)
David Elder (born February 10, 1942) is an American politician in the state of California. He served in the California State Assembly for the 57th district from 1978 to 1992. In 1992, Elder sought reelection to the state assembly. However, redistricting merged his district with that of fellow Democratic assemblyman Richard Floyd into a new district centered in and around the city Carson. Mike Cullen (California Politician)
John Michael Cullen (14 December 1927 – 23 March 2001) was an Australian ornithologist, of English origin. Mike Cullen began his academic career by studying mathematics at Wadham College, Oxford, but later switched to zoology, spending time at the Edward Grey Institute of Field Ornithology while investigating the ecology of marsh tits. He subsequently achieved his PhD with Niko Tinbergen with a study of the behaviour of the common tern on the Farne Islands off the coast of Northumberland. In 1976 he moved to Australia, to Monash University in Melbourne, Victoria. There he was involved in an investigation of Abbott's booby on Christmas Island which was threatened by phosphate mining. He served on the Field Investigation Committee of the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union (RAOU) for which he organised the Rolling Bird Survey project. Richard Floyd (California Politician)
Richard Edward Floyd (February 3, 1931 – August 11, 2011) was a California State Assemblyman from the 53rd District who served from 1980 until 1992, when he was defeated by Juanita Millender-McDonald, after he and fellow Democratic assemblyman Dave Elder were reapportioned into the 55th District. He represented the 55th District again after McDonald was elected to Congress from 1996 until 2000, when he was termed out. He ran for a neighboring State Senate seat in 2000, but lost in the primary to Edward Vincent. Floyd received approximately 30% of the vote. Juanita Millender-McDonald (September 7, 1938 – April 22, 2007) was an American politician who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1996 until her death in 2007, representing California's 37th congressional district, which includes most of South Central Los Angeles and the city of Long Beach, California. She was a member of the Democratic Party. On December 19, 2006, Millender-McDonald was named Chairwoman of the House Committee on House Administration for the 110th Congress. She was the first African-American woman to chair the committee.
