Daumants Dreiškens
Daumants Dreiškens (born 28 March 1984) is a Latvian bobsledder, brakeman, who has competed since 2003. He won a gold medal in the four-man event at the FIBT World Championships 2016 in Igls, Austria, with pilot Oskars Melbārdis, Arvis Vilkaste and Jānis Strenga. It was the first ever World Championships gold medal in bobsled for Latvia. He also won a silver medal in the two-man event at FIBT World Championships 2015 in Winterberg, Germany, and two bronze medals in the four-man events at the FIBT World Championships 2009 in Lake Placid, New York, with pilot Jānis Miņins, Oskars Melbārdis and Intars Dambis, and at the FIBT World Championships 2015. Dreiškens also competed in three Winter Olympics, earning a silver medal in the four-man event at Sochi in 2014. Gulbene
Gulbene (; ) is a town in the Vidzeme region of Latvia. It is an administrative center of Gulbene Municipality. History Historical documents first mention the 1224 land division act between the Livonian Order, Order of the Sword Brothers and the Archbishopric of Riga, Archbishop of Riga. Edgars Maskalāns (born 13 April 1982) is a Latvian bobsledder who has competed from 2006 to 2012. His best World Cup finish was first place in the four-man event at St. Moritz, Switzerland in January 2011. He also finished 2nd in the four-man event at Cesana, Italy in February 2011 and 3rd in the four-man event at St. Moritz at January 2012. Bobsleigh European Championship
The European Bobsleigh and Skeleton Championships are the main bobsleigh and skeleton championships in Europe. The first bobsleigh European Championships with two-man event was held in 1929 in Davos, Switzerland. However, as Bobsleigh World Championships started to be held on an annual basis since following year, European Championships didn't resumed until 1965. A four-man event was included in 1967 when first combined championship occurred. The men's European Skeleton Championships were held separately in 1981–1988 before resuming in 2003 when women's skeleton event was added as well. In 2004 the first women's European Bobsleigh Championship was held with two-woman event. The following year both the women's bobsleigh and skeleton events were merged with the men's bobsleigh events at the European Championships. Jānis Miņins
Jānis Miņins (born 15 August 1980 in Kuldīga) is a Latvian bobsledder who has competed since 1999. He won a bronze medal in the four-man event at the FIBT World Championships 2009 in Lake Placid, New York, earning the country its first championship medal ever. In the 2004–05 season his best placing was a sixth place in the 4-man bob in Cortina d'Ampezzo and Winterberg, both times with Juris Latiss, Ainārs Podnieks and Jānis Ozols. For the 2005–06 season he changed his team mates, retaining Ozols but bringing in Mārcis Rullis and Intars Dīcmanis to the four-man bob.
