Dattatreya Hosabale
Dattatreya Hosabale (born 1 December 1954) is an Indian social worker who is the current General Secretary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since March 2021. During the period of Indian Emergency from 1975 to 1977 he was arrested under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) and imprisoned for 16 months. He also served as the general secretary for the student organization, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad for 15 years. Early life Dattatreya Hosabale was born in 1954 in Soraba in Shimoga, Karnataka. Hailing from a family of RSS activists, he is the founding trustee of India Policy Foundation, a non-profit policy research organization. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ( ; , , ) is an Indian right-wing, Hindu nationalist, paramilitary volunteer organisation. The RSS is the progenitor and leader of a large body of organisations called the Sangh Parivar (Hindi for "Sangh family"), which have presence in all facets of the Indian society. RSS was founded on 27 September 1925. , it has a membership of 5–6million. The initial impetus was to provide character training through Hindu discipline and to unite the Hindu community to form a Hindu Rashtra (Hindu nation). Mohan Bhagwat (, Marathi pronunciation: oːɦən bʱaːɡʋət̪ born 11 September 1950) is an activist currently serving as the 6th and current Sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in India. He was chosen as the successor to K. S. Sudarshan in March 2009. Early life Mohan Madhukar Bhagwat was born in a Marathi family in Chandrapur, then Bombay State of India. He comes from a family of RSS activists. His father Madhukar Rao Bhagwat, was the ''Karyavah'' (secretary) for the Chandrapur zone and later a ''Prant Pracharak'' (provincial promoter) for Gujarat. Soraba is a Tehsil, Taluk in Shimoga district, Shivamogga district in the state of Karnataka in India. Anavatti is the Major Town and commercial centre in Soraba Taluk. Soraba is located at . Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) () is a right-wing all India student organisation affiliated to the Hindu nationalist organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). History The ABVP, founded in 1948 with the initiative of the RSS activist Balraj Madhok, was formally registered on 9 July 1949. Its purpose when founded was to counter communist influence on university campuses. Yashwant Rao Kelkar, a lecturer in Bombay, became its main organiser in 1958.
