Darpan Inani
Darpan Inani is a prolific blind Indian chess player and a Chartered Accountant from Vadodara. He is currently the highest-rated visually impaired chess player in India, with an ELO rating of 2135 as of January 2020. He won a bronze medal on his respective board in the 16th World Chess Olympiad for visually impaired held in Greece in 2021. He was also a bronze medalist at the 2013 World Junior Championship in Belgrade. He is the youngest player to have ever won the National blind chess championships. He is the only Indian visually impaired chess player to have ever won international first prize at the Creon Open chess tournament in France in August 2018. This was a historic moment for Indian chess when a visually impaired player won first prize in international open sighted tournament in his rating category. Syed Ishrat Abbas
Syed Ishrat Abbas ( ur, ), (1928 – 8 November 1980) better known by his stage name Darpan ( ur, ), was one of the original romantic heroes of the "golden age" of Pakistan's film industry (also commonly known as Lollywood). Background Syed Ishrat Abbas was born into a middle-class Shia Muslim family originally from the United Provinces of India, where he was born in 1928. His older brother, Santosh Kumar, was also a film actor. Another brother, S. Sulaiman, is a film director. Career Darpan was introduced in the film ''Amanat'' in 1950 and went on to feature in the Pakistani Punjabi film ''Billo'' in 1951. After starring in a few more films produced in Lahore, he decided to try his luck in India, where he only had moderate level of success. Darpan Chaya ( Nepali: दर्पण छायाँ, English: The Illusory Mirror) is a 2001 Nepalese romantic drama film, written and directed by Tulsi Ghimire. The film is produced by Shrawan Ghimire under the banner of Siddhanta Films. ''Jagat Darpan''(literally ''Worlds Mirror'') is a Gujarati language, Gujarati newspaper in Gujarat, India, owned by Mama's Group It is one of the highest circulation Gujarati weeklies, with the most editions in Gujarat. In 2005, the Surat-based Mama's Group identified Surat, Gujarat as the city with highest potential for the launch of Jagat Drapan . It surveyed 12,000 households, with a team of 105 surveyors, 64 supervisors, 16 zonal managers and 4 divisional managers. The surveyors were gathered largely through posters at colleges and word-of-mouth publicity, instead of expensive print and TV advertisements. Nearly 40-50% of the surveyors were later absorbed in Jagat Darpan, while the rest were given a certificate of appreciation. The team was trained to reach out to 12K households in Surat, in a time span of 40 days.
