''Dardanus megistos'', the white-spotted hermit crab or spotted hermit crab, is a species of hermit crab belonging to the family Diogenidae. Etymology The genus name '' Dardanus'' refers to the son of Zeus and Electra in Greek mythology, while the species name ''megistos'' is the superlative of the Greek word ''mega'', therefore it means ''the largest''. Distribution This species is present in the Indo-Pacific region from East Africa to the South China Sea, Australia and east to Hawaii. Iriomote Island
is the largest of the Yaeyama Islands of Japan, and the second largest in Okinawa Prefecture after Okinawa Island itself. The island has an area of and a 2005 population of 2,347. Hermit crabs are anomuran decapod crustaceans of the superfamily Paguroidea that have adapted to occupy empty scavenged mollusc shells to protect their fragile exoskeletons. Aliguay Island
Aliguay is an island in the Philippines, and a barangay of Dapitan City. The island is an established marine sanctuary. The island is surrounded by white sand beaches and coral reefs. There are no water sources on the island. A few residents live on Aliguay Island, mostly selling fish to tourists. 2015 Kidnapping and Beheading More than 10 armed men abducted at dawn Monday, May 4, 2015. Rodolfo Buligao, Aliguay's Barangay Captain at the time, and two members of the Philippine Coast Guard were kidnapped by the Abu Sayyaf. The suspects turned to these 3 men after failing to see foreign tourists in what could have been a plan for kidnapping-for-ransom. The military found a beheaded body of a man believed to be Buligao. In biology, gonochorism is a sexual system where there are only two Sex, sexes and each individual organism is either male or female.
