Dante Rezze
Dante Rezze (born 27 April 1963) is a French former professional racing cyclist. He rode in three editions of the Tour de France and two editions of the Giro d'Italia. During the 1995 Tour de France, he was one of five riders involved in the crash that killed Fabio Casartelli. Crashing into a ravine, Rezze suffered bruises and abandoned the Tour. Classique des Alpes was a classic taking place as a mountainous single-day cycling race. It took place in Chartreuse Mountains, beginning in Chambéry and finishing in Aix-les-Bains. It was held between 1991 and 2004, a day before the start of the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré. Following the 2004 edition, Jean-Marie Leblanc, head of the organising body the Amaury Sport Organisation, announced the race would no longer take place as the cycling teams were not supportive of the race. The Bordeaux–Paris professional cycle race was one of Europe's classic cycle races, and one of the longest in the professional calendar, covering approximately – more than twice most single-day races. Fabio Casartelli (16 August 1970 – 18 July 1995) was an Italian cyclist and an Olympic gold medalist. He was killed in a crash on the descent of the Col de Portet d'Aspet, France, during the 15th stage of the 1995 Tour de France. Amateur career Fabio Casartelli showed great promise as an amateur. He had many important wins and placings between 1990 and 1992, climaxing in winning a gold medal in the 1992 Summer Olympics road race.
