Dansungsa
Dansungsa, established in 1907, was the first movie theatre in Korea. It is located in Jongno 3-''ga'', Seoul. ''Korea Loyal Flight'' became the theatre's first ever premiere in 1919. Chunsa Na Woon-gyu's Korean folk movie, ''Arirang'', followed, premiering in the theatre in 1926. '' Chunhyanjeon'' became the theatre's third premier in 1935. In 1963, the South Korean government declared October 27, the same day when ''Korea Loyal Flight'' premiered at Dansungsa, to be the Korea Film Day. The declaration celebrated both the beginning of Korean film industry as well as the fact that Dansungsa, along with Woomikwan and Chosum Movie Theatre, the only theatre showing Korean movies during the colonial rule. Jongno
Jongno or Jong-ro ( ko, 종로), literally meaning "Bell Street", is a trunk road and one of the oldest major east–west thoroughfares in Seoul, South Korea. Jongno connects Gwanghwamun Plaza to Dongdaemun. The area surrounding Jongno is a part of Downtown Seoul and one of the most prominent cultural, historical, and financial areas. Many important landmarks are located along its length, including the Bigak pavilion at Sejongno, the Bosingak belfry (hence the street's name), Tapgol Park (Pagoda Park), the Jongmyo royal ancestral shrine, and the Dongdaemun (Great East Gate). Seoul Subway Line 1 passes under Jongno. The western end of Jongno is serviced by Gwanghwamun Station (Seoul Subway Line 5), and Jongno 3-ga Station is serviced by Subway Lines 1, 3, and 5. Arirang (1926 Film)
''Arirang'' (Hangul: 아리랑) is a 1926 Korean silent film directed by Na Woon-gyu who also one of the main cast. It is regarded as one of the most influential films in Korean cinema history, as well as the first Korean nationalist film and a critique of the Japanese rule of Korea. It is named after the traditional song "Arirang," which audiences were said to sing at the conclusion of the film. ''Arirang'' is considered a lost film, but a written record of the plot still exists. Plot Yeong-jin is a student who has become mentally ill after being imprisoned and tortured by the Japanese for his involvement in the 1 March 1919 protest against the Japanese occupation of Korea. Jongno 3-ga Station
Jongno 3(sam)-ga Station is an underground station on lines 1, 3 and 5 of the Seoul Subway in South Korea.
