Danny Kirmond
Danny Kirmond (born ) is an English former professional rugby league footballer who last played as a forward for York City Knights in the Betfred Championship. He has formerly played for England at international level. He has played at club level for Featherstone Rovers in the RFL Championship. Kirmond has also played for the Huddersfield Giants in the Super League, and on loan from Huddersfield at the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in 2010. The Championship, known as the Betfred Championship for sponsorship reasons, is a professional rugby league competition. It is the second-tier competition organised by the Rugby Football League, the governing body for the sport in England, and consists of 14 teams, with promotion to the Super League and relegation to the third-tier competition, League One. Huddersfield is a market town in the Kirklees district in West Yorkshire, England. It is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Kirklees district. Million Pound Game (stylized as £1M Game) was an annual playoff final rugby league game that decides which Championship team will be promoted to Super League the following season. Between 2015 and 2018, the game was played as part of The Qualifiers until the 2019 league restructure when it became the final of the top 5 playoff series. The name alludes to the higher level of funding Super League clubs receive. History It was proposed in 2014 and instigated in 2015, with the restructuring of the Rugby League season by the Rugby Football League. At an RFL extraordinary general meeting in 2018, the clubs voted to scrap the Super 8s and revert to a one up one down system between Super league and the Championship as used previously.
