Danny Grieves
Daniel Leonard Grieves (born 21 September 1978) is an English former professional footballer. Club career Grieves started his career as a trainee with Watford from 1996 to 1999. He made one appearance for Watford, in a 1–0 Football League Trophy loss to Fulham in 1997. In 1999 he moved to Israel to sign for Maccabi Herzliya. He made nine appearances in the Ligat Ha`Al, with no goals, before being released mid-season. On his return to England, Grieves signed for Queens Park Rangers, but ultimately failed to make an appearances for the West-London club. Following his release, he played for Hemel Hempstead Town for a short period. He then signed for Aylesbury United ahead of the 2003–04 season, and went on to score on his debut. However, after four more appearances, he left the club to join Hemel Hempstead Town. He agreed a deal with Dover Athletic in 2004. Watford
Watford () is a town and borough in Hertfordshire, England, 15 miles northwest of Central London, on the River Colne. Initially a small market town, the Grand Junction Canal encouraged the construction of paper-making mills, print works, and breweries. While industry has declined in Watford, its location near London and transport links has attracted several companies to site their headquarters in the town. Cassiobury Park is a public park that was once the manor estate of the Earls of Essex. The town developed next to the River Colne on land belonging to St Albans Abbey. Israeli Premier League
The Israeli Premier League ( he, ליגת העל, ''Ligat Ha`Al'', ), is a professional association football league which operates as the highest division of the Israeli Football League – the state's league of Israel. The league is contested by 14 clubs, and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with its second division Liga Leumit. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing between 33 and 36 matches each, totalling 240 matches in every season. The competition formed in 1999 following the decision of the Israel Football Association to form a new league. 1999–2000 Israeli Premier League
The 1999–2000 Israeli Premier League season was the first in its history. The league had been formed to replace the former top division, Liga Leumit, which became the country's second tier. Before the season started Ironi Ashdod and Liga Alef side Hapoel Ashdod were merged into F.C. Ashdod. The season took place from the first match on 14 August 1999 to the final match on 27 May 2000. Hapoel Tel Aviv won the title, teams relegated were Hapoel Kfar Saba, Maccabi Herzliya and Hapoel Jerusalem. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981. After the creation of the Premier League, the name First Division was given to the second-tier division (from 1992). The name ceased to exist after the 2003–04 First Division season. 1998–99 Football League
The 1998–99 Football League (known as the Nationwide Football League for sponsorship reasons) was the 100th completed season of The Football League. Sunderland were crowned First Division champions with 105 points, then a record, having lost just three games all season, to prove right the many pundits who tipped them for promotion. The two other promotion places were secured by two of the division's least fancied sides — runners-up Bradford City (back in the top division for the first time in 77 years) and playoff winners Watford (who had won their second successive promotion during Graham Taylor's second spell as manager). The 1997–98 Football League (known as the Nationwide Football League for sponsorship reasons) was the 99th completed season of The Football League. Champions Nottingham Forest and runners-up Middlesbrough won promotion back to the Premiership at the first time of asking. Charlton Athletic won the play-offs to end an eight-year absence from the top flight. Reading were relegated in bottom place. They were joined on the last day of the season by Manchester City and Stoke City. The Israel Toto Cup ( he, גביע הטוטו, ''Gvia Ha'Toto'') is an association football tournament that features clubs in the two highest divisions in Israel: the Israeli Premier League ( Ligat Ha'Al), and the second division Liga Leumit. Israel State Cup
The Israel State Cup ( he, גביע המדינה, ''Gvia HaMedina''), is a knockout cup competition in Israeli football, run by the Israel Football Association (IFA). The State Cup was first held in 1928 as the People's Cup. Because it involves clubs of all standards playing against each other, there is the possibility for "minnows" from the lower divisions to become "giant-killers" by eliminating top clubs from the tournament, although lower division teams rarely reach the final. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). Jack Grieves
Jack Grieves (born 5 December 2004) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Ross County. Career Youth Career Born in Watford, Grieves was first spotted at 8 years old when playing in a local tournament, and was signed in 2013 after a trial at the club. Jack was released from the Academy at 14 in 2019, and went to play football at Everett Rovers and then Leverstock Green. Grieves joined Watford for the second time in 2020 after taking another trial. Senior Career He made his senior Watford debut on 7 January 2023, coming on as a second-half substitute for Leandro Bacuna in a 2–0 home defeat to Reading in the second round of the FA Cup. Skilly Williams
Reginald George "Skilly" Williams (4 January 1890 – 19 June 1959) was an English association footballer. Born in Watford, he played primarily as a striker during his amateur career, but later switched to become a goalkeeper. After playing for Leavesden Mental Hospital's football team, as well as for Hertfordshire, Williams joined Watford as an amateur in 1910, turning professional in 1914. During his first season as a professional, Watford won the 1914–1915 Southern Football League title. League football was then interrupted for four seasons due to the First World War. He served as a private in the Norfolk Regiment and the Labour Corps during the conflict. Following the resumption of competitive football in 1919, Williams again played a part as Watford finished runners up to Portsmouth on goal average.
