Danny Franco
Danny Franco (דני פרנקו; born 5 December 1973) is an Israeli basketball coach. He is currently the head coach of Hapoel Tel Aviv of the Israeli Premier League. Franco began his coaching path as coach for Hapoel Tel Aviv's youth teams, and during that time he also coached the Israeli youth national team. Among the many teams Franco has coached are: Ironi Ramat Gan, Hapoel Afula, Hapoel Gilboa Galil (as Hapoel Galil Elyon), Hapoel Holon with whom he won the Israeli State Cup in 2009, Barak Netanya, and Maccabi Haifa, Hapoel Jerusalem, Ironi Nahariya and Hapoel Tel Aviv. Beginning of career and youth coach Franco grew up in Holon, where he played for Hapoel Holon's youth team. At age 16, he participated in an instructor's course at the Wingate Institute, and was invited by legendary coach Yehoshua Rozin to coach in the Hapoel Tel Aviv youth division. Israeli State Cup
The Israel State Cup ( he, גביע המדינה, ''Gvia HaMedina''), is a knockout cup competition in Israeli football, run by the Israel Football Association (IFA). The State Cup was first held in 1928 as the People's Cup. Because it involves clubs of all standards playing against each other, there is the possibility for "minnows" from the lower divisions to become "giant-killers" by eliminating top clubs from the tournament, although lower division teams rarely reach the final. The current holders of the State Cup are the Israeli Premier League club Hapoel Haifa, who beat Beitar Jerusalem in the 2018 final on May 9, 2018. Maccabi Tel Aviv have 23 titles, having the record for most titles won. Hapoel Tel Aviv in 1937–1939 and 2010–2012 are the only club to have retained the State Cup for three consecutive seasons. Tunji Awojobi
Tunji Femi Awojobi (born July 30, 1973) is a retired Nigerian professional basketball player. A former boxer, Awojobi graduated from Boston University in 1997. Following graduation, he played in several European countries, most notably in Israel. Awojobi was also a member of the Nigeria national basketball team, Nigerian national team, and participated in the 1998 FIBA World Championship, 1998 and 2006 FIBA World Championship. Liga Leumit ( he, ליגה לאומית, lit. ''National League'') is the second tier level league of basketball competition in Israel. It is the league level that is below the first tier Israeli Basketball Premier League, Israeli Premier League. League system The league contains 15 clubs that compete in a home-and-away Round-robin tournament, round-robin. At the end of the season, the top eight clubs advance to the play-offs. Erez Edelstein (born August 23, 1961) is an Israeli basketball coach. Coaching career In 2014, Edelstein was hired as a head coach of the Israel national basketball team. The 2008 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship was an international basketball competition held in Greece from July 25, 2008 until August 3. The hosts, Greeks, emerged as the champions after beating the Lithuanians in the final, 57–50 to clinch their first European Under-18 championship. The 2007 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship was the 21st edition of the FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship. The cities of Ierapetra, Rethymno and Heraklion, in Greece, hosted the tournament. Serbia won the trophy for the first time since the dissolution of Serbia and Montenegro. Slovenia and Portugal were relegated to Division B. Elishay Kadir Elishay Kadir ( he, אלישי כדיר) (born November 4, 1987) is an Israeli professional basketball player, who plays for Bnei Herzliya of the Israeli Premier League. He plays in the power forward position, and is 202 cm (6'8") tall. He was the 2010 Israeli Basketball Premier League MVP. Professional career Elishay born and raised in Yavne.
