Danny Efland
Daniel Efland (born October 4, 1988) is an American professional stock car racing driver, engineer and crew chief who works for Petty GMS Motorsports as the engineer for the No. 43 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driven by Erik Jones in the NASCAR Cup Series. He formerly competed as a driver in USAR Pro Cup, what is now the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Racing career From 1999–2002, Efland won 7 state championships as well as 5 National World Karting Association championships. Moving on to the Pro 4 Mod class at Florence Motor Speedway in 2002, he won the track championship as well as rookie of the year honors. Erik Benjamin Jones (born May 30, 1996) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 43 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Petty GMS. His nicknames are EJ, his initials, and That Jones Boy, given to him by announcer Ken Squier. Start and park is a term used in auto racing, particularly in NASCAR-sanctioned races, to describe the practice of racing teams starting races but pulling the car off the track after just a few laps in order to collect prize money while avoiding expenses such as replacement tires, engine wear and tear, and hiring a pit crew. The practice has existed due to the relatively high purse for even a back-of-the-pack finish, as well as the high costs of fielding a car for an entire race. While start-and-park entries occasionally act as "field fillers" (a term typically used outside of NASCAR when a small number of teams show up to a racetrack), the practice is criticized in instances when they take spots away from teams intending to run the full race. In some cases, a team will use a start-and-park car to help fund another competitive car in the same or a different series. Charlotte Motor Speedway (previously known as Lowe's Motor Speedway from 1999 to 2009) is a motorsport complex located in Concord, North Carolina, outside Charlotte. New Hampshire Motor Speedway is a oval speedway located in Loudon, New Hampshire, which has hosted NASCAR racing annually since 1990, as well as the longest-running motorcycle race in North America, the Loudon Classic. The World Karting Association, or WKA, is the largest sanctioning body for kart racing in North America. The WKA was founded in 1971 and is located directly behind Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. The WKA is believed to currently have approximately 5,000 members.
