Danish Immigration Service
The Danish Immigration Service ( da, Udlændingestyrelsen or ''Udlændingeservice'') is a directorate within the Danish Ministry of Refugees, Immigration and Integration Affairs. The service administrates the Danish Aliens Act ( da, Udlændingeloven), in other words, it handles applications for asylum, family reunification, visas, work permits, etc. In addition, the service is engaged in a wide range of other duties relating to the asylum and immigration area, including the task of accommodating asylum seekers. Family reunification is a recognized reason for immigration in many countries because of the presence of one or more family members in a certain country, therefore, enables the rest of the divided family or only specific members of the family to emigrate to that country as well. Family reunification laws try to balance the right of a family to live together with the country's right to control immigration. However, what the balance looks like and which members of the family can be reunited differ largely by country. A subcategory of family reunification is marriage migration in which one spouse immigrates to the country of the other spouse. Søren Pind
Søren Pind (born 20 November 1969) is a Danish lawyer and politician, a member of the center-right party Venstre. He served as Danish Minister of Justice from 2015 to 2016, and as Minister of Science, Technology, Information and Higher Education from 2016 to May 2018, where he resigned because he was tired of politics. Pind was born in Herning. He served as councillor in the Copenhagen City Council from 1994 to 2005, and has taught at the University of Copenhagen. Pind is considered more liberal than most other members of his party.
