Danish Air Show
The Royal Danish Air Force conducts the annual Danish Air Show at one of its three air bases (AB), Aalborg Air Base, Air Base Karup or Air Base Skrydstrup. In 2005 Karup AB, in 2006 Skrydstrup AB in 2007 Aalborg AB and in 2008 Karup AB. No airshow was held in 2009. The Danish Air Show 2010 was again held at Skrydstrup AB. In 2012 it took place at Aalborg AB. An air show (or airshow, air fair, air tattoo) is a public event where aircraft are exhibited. They often include aerobatics demonstrations, without they are called "static air shows" with aircraft parked on the ground. The largest air show measured by number of exhibitors and size of exhibit space is Le Bourget followed by Farnborough, while Dubai air show and Singapore Air Show are both claiming the third place. The largest air show or fly-in by number of participating airplanes is EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, commonly known as "Oshkosh" after its location in Wisconsin, with approximately 10,000 airplanes participating each year. The biggest military airshow in the world is the Royal International Air Tattoo, at RAF Fairford in England. Royal Danish Air Force
The Royal Danish Air Force ( da, Flyvevåbnet, lit=The Flying weapon) (RDAF) is the aerial warfare force of The Kingdom of Denmark and one of the four branches of the Danish Defence. Initially being components of the Army and the Navy, it was made a separate service in 1950. Its main purpose is to serve as enforcer of Danish airspace and to provide air support to Danish group troops on the battlefield. Aalborg Air Base
Aalborg Air Base ( da, Flyvestation Aalborg) also Air Transport Wing Aalborg is a military air base for the Royal Danish Air Force . It is located at Vadum, near Aalborg, Denmark. Aalborg Air Base shares its runway system as well as some services (Air Traffic Control etc.) with Aalborg Airport, Aalborg Lufthavn. Air Base Karup
Air Base Karup is the main air base of the Royal Danish Air Force. It is situated within Midtjyllands Airport, 3 km west of Karup in mid-Jutland. The air base covers 3000 hectares of land of which only a third is inside the operational area marked by a 17 km long fence. History The air base was constructed by the Luftwaffe during the German Occupation in 1940 under the name "Einsatzhafen Grove" (later ''Flieger-Horst Grove'') to facilitate offensive operations against England. Later in the war, it became a base for defensive fighter planes. Fighter Wing Skrydstrup
Fighter Wing Skrydstrup is an air base of the Royal Danish Air Force (RDAF) situated in southern Jutland. It is home to the 30 operative F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters of the RDAF along with a Saab T-17 Supporter, and a single search and rescue helicopter covering southern Denmark. A total of 1000 people work at the fighter wing serving in the three groups Wing Staff, Operations Group and Maintenance Group. The air base covers an area of 838 hectares with three runways with a length of 3,500 meters. History The air base was constructed by the Luftwaffe during the German occupation of Denmark as Fliegerhorst Hadersleben in 1943 as part of the Atlantic Wall. Roskilde Airport
Roskilde Airport , officially known as Copenhagen Airport, Roskilde ( da, Københavns Lufthavn, Roskilde, ), is located 4 nautical miles (7 km) southeast of Roskilde near the town Tune. It was opened in 1973 as the first of three planned relief airports around Copenhagen. These plans were shelved shortly after, and the two other relief airports never made it past the planning stage. The airport is owned and operated by Københavns Lufthavne A/S (Copenhagen Airports) which also operates Copenhagen's major airport at Kastrup. The airport had 25,053 passengers in 2003. The airport is fully equipped, but most flights from this airport are taxi-flights, small-plane regular flights to minor domestic islands or business jets.
