Daniel Speers
Daniel Speers (born 17 June 1997) is a retired English competitive swimmer who has represented Great Britain in the 2015 European Games The 2015 European Games, also known as Baku 2015 or Baku 2015 European Games ( az, Bakı 2015 Avropa Oyunları), were the inaugural edition of the European Games, an international multi-sport event for athletes representing the National Olympic .... Speers specialized in the 50-metre freestyle. Career Speers began swimming as a breaststroker, joining Bournemouth Dolphins in 2007. Speers took up freestyle as his main event shortly after joining Poole Swimming club. Head coach Robin Armayan, worked extensively on Speers' freestyle technique. In September 2013, Speers joined Millfield School where he was coached by Euan Dale and Jol Finck. Freestyle Swimming
Freestyle is a category of swimming competition, defined by the rules of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), in which competitors are subject to a few limited restrictions on their swimming stroke. Freestyle races are the most common of all swimming competitions, with distances beginning with 50 meters (50 yards) and reaching 1500 meters (1650 yards), also known as the mile. The term 'freestyle stroke' is sometimes used as a synonym for 'front crawl', as front crawl is the fastest surface swimming stroke. It is now the most common stroke used in freestyle competitions. Bournemouth () is a coastal resort town in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole council area of Dorset, England. 2015 European Games Medal Table
The 2015 European Games was a multi-sport event held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 12 to 28 June 2015. The event was held for the first time and saw 5,898 athletes from 50 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) competing in 253 events in 20 sports. Since the Faroe Islands and Gibraltar are not members of the European Olympic Committee, the Faroese participants occurred for the Ligue Européenne de Natation and the Gibraltar participants for the Athletic Association of Small States of Europe. This medal table ranks the participating NOCs by the number of gold medals won by their athletes. Athletes from 42 NOCs won medals, leaving 8 NOCs without a medal, and 31 of them won at least one gold medal. Russia led the medal table of the first European Games.
