Daniel Nielsen
Daniel Nielsen (born October 31, 1980) is a Danish professional ice hockey player who is currently playing for the Herning Blue Fox of the Metal Ligaen. He played for German club Hamburg Freezers after spending the majority of his professional career with current club Herning Blue Fox in Denmark's top league, AL-Bank Ligaen. Nielsen has competed in several World Cup events including 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and also the 2010 IIHF World Championship as a member of the Denmark men's national ice hockey team The Danish national men's ice hockey team is the national ice hockey team for Denmark. The Danish national men's ice hockey team is the national ice hockey team for Denmark. The team is controlled by Danmarks Ishockey Union. It was founded in 1949, and as of 2022, the Danish team was ranked 10th in the IIHF World Rankings. Denmark currently has 4,255 players (0.07% of its population). Their coach is Danish Heinz Ehlers who replaced Janne Karlsson. Denmark once held the record for the largest loss when they were defeated by Canada in 1949, 47–0, only being surpassed by New Zealand who were defeated by Australia 58–0 in 1987. AL-Bank Ligaen
Metal Ligaen is the premier league in Danish ice hockey. The league consists of 9 professional teams. The name of the league has changed many times, but is being sponsored by Dansk Metal and therefore got the name Metalligaen. History It is also known as Superisligaen or Eliteserien, which is the name used in the past and in times where no naming rights agreement is in place. On 1 January 2014 Danish Metal (Dansk Metal) became the sponsor of the Danish ice hockey league, which changed the name to Metal Ligaen, replacing the previous name AL-Bank Ligaen which was named for the sponsorship deal with the Danish bank Arbejdernes Landsbank.
