Daniel Kabiljo
Daniel Kabiljo (6 March 1894, Sarajevo – 1944, Jasenovac concentration camp) was a Yugoslav Jewish Sephardi artist. His lithographs of Sephardi life were published in 1924 but the originals are lost. His art was featured in a propaganda film made by the Ustashe which also featured sculptor Slavko Brill. The group of artists also included Daniel Ozmo one of the younger generation of Sarajevo’s Sephardic artists. He, along with other Sarajevo Jews, was captured and imprisoned by the Ustashe in 1941. He was transferred first to Stara Gradiška and then to Jasenovac, where he died in 1944. Art of Bosnia and Herzegovina refers to artistic objects created by the inhabitants of Bosnia and Herzegovina from prehistory to present times. Ancient heritage Prehistory Bosnia and Herzegovina hosts the oldest monument of the Paleolithic age in southeastern Europe, engravings in ''Badanj'' cave near Stolac in Herzegovina. Baščaršija (Cyrillic: Башчаршија; ) is Sarajevo's old bazaar and the historical and cultural center of the city. Baščaršija was built in the 15th century when Isa-Beg Ishaković founded the city. Baščaršija is located on the north bank of the river Miljacka, in the municipality of Stari Grad. Jasenovac () was a concentration camp, concentration and extermination camps, extermination camp established in the Jasenovac, Sisak-Moslavina County, village of the same name by the authorities of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) in Invasion of Yugoslavia, occupied Yugoslavia during World War II in Yugoslavia, World War II. The National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina ( Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian: ''Umjetnička galerija Bosne i Hercegovine'' / Умјетинчка галерија Босне и Херцеговине) is a national gallery of art in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located in Sarajevo. The gallery was established on October 11, 1946, and contains over 6000 pieces of art. Its main focus are the works of Bosnian and Herzegovinian interest. The gallery was open and held exhibitions during the whole period of the siege of Sarajevo and the Bosnian war in 1992-1995. However, afterwards it received considerably less funding due to the failure of the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina to recognize the gallery as a national institution. The National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina was closed in September 2011 for almost a year because the gallery was unable to appoint a new director.
