Daniel Dean Hughes (born April 14, 1955) is an American basketball coach who most recently coached Seattle Storm of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) from 2018 until his retirement in 2021. He has guided stars such as Sue Bird, Natasha Howard, Mercedes Russell, and Jordin Canada. Hughes coached the Silver Stars from 2005 to 2009, and rejoined the team in 2011. Prior to the 2013 season, Hughes signed a multiyear contract extension. He has coached the most victories in franchise history. On April 19, 2016, the Stars announced that Hughes would step down as general manager and head coach following the 2016 season. Dan Hughes (born June 5, 1956) is an American politician from the state of Nebraska in the Midwestern United States. In 2014, he was elected to the Nebraska Legislature, representing a district in the southwestern part of the state. Hughes is a member of the Republican Party. Early life and career Hughes was born on June 5, 1956, in Imperial, Nebraska, to a family of farmers. He graduated from high school in Venango, Nebraska, in 1974. In 1976, he received an associate degree in agriculture from Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado. In 1977, he married Josie Hahn; the couple eventually produced two children. After receiving his degree, Hughes joined his family's wheat-farming operation in southwestern Nebraska. As of 2011, they farmed about . Daniel "Danny" Hughes (born 10 December 1986) is an Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited from Sandringham (VFL) via Sandringham Dragons and the Hampton Rovers Football Club with the 25th selection in the 2006 AFL Rookie Draft, before being delisted at the end of the 2007 season. After missing most of the 2008 season with a hip injury, he was redrafted onto Melbourne's rookie list, with selection 33 in the 2009 Rookie Draft and was retained for the 2010 season. He plays as a small-medium forward and has played for both the Sandringham Zebras and Casey Scorpions in the Victorian Football League whilst on the Melbourne list. Daniel Abraham Hughes (c.1819 – 27 May 1879) was a banker, barrister and politician in colonial Victoria, a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. Hughes was the son of W. Hughes who owned Hughes' Wharf, Melbourne. Daniel Hughes was a bank clerk in Ireland, then a clerk in the London office of P&O. Daniel John Hughes (19 September 1869 – 11 February 1951) was a Taranaki and New Zealand rugby union player. He is number 51 on the list of New Zealand national rugby union players. Biography Born in Patea, Hughes was educated at Manaia School, Taranaki. Playing in the hooker position, Hughes represented the Waimate (Manaia) and later Tukapa rugby clubs as well as the Taranaki Rugby Football Union at provincial level. At the age of 24, Hughes played one match for the New Zealand national rugby union team, against New South Wales at Lancaster Park in Christchurch on 15 September 1894. Daniel Hughes (1804–1880) was a conductor, agent and station master in the Underground Railroad based in Loyalsock Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania in the United States. He was the owner of a barge on the Pennsylvania Canal and transported lumber from Williamsport on the West Branch Susquehanna River to Havre de Grace, Maryland. Hughes hid runaway slaves in the hold of his barge on his return trip up the Susquehanna River to Lycoming County, where he provided shelter to the runaways on his property near the Loyalsock Township border with Williamsport before they moved further north and to eventual freedom in Canada. Hughes' home was located in a hollow or small valley in the mountains just north of Williamsport. This hollow is now known as Freedom Road, having previously been called Nigger Hollow. Danny Hughes
Danny Hughes (born 4 December 1963) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club and Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). A fullback, Hughes was a premiership player with Port Adelaide prior to transferring to Melbourne. He was Melbourne's best and fairest winner in 1985 and represented South Australia at interstate football and was awarded All Australian selection for his performance in the 1988 Adelaide Bicentennial Carnival. He returned to South Australia in 1991 and played in Adelaide's inaugural AFL season but retired at year's end. He continued to play with Port Adelaide in the SANFL until 1993.
