Dan Stewart (politician)
Dan Stewart (born September 27, 1963) is a Democrat who served in the Ohio House of Representatives. Life and career Stewart was born and raised on Columbus's west side. The 1974 West High School graduate resides in the Hilltop area of Columbus. Ohio House of Representatives A lifelong resident of Columbus, Ohio, Stewart ran for the Ohio House of Representatives in 2002, after Republican Amy Salerno was term limited from running for another term. Stewart won handily and was seated in 2003. A voracious liberal, Stewart advocated for civil rights, workers rights, and the environment as a state representative. While a swing area, Stewart again won election to a second term in 2004. Stewart again won reelection in 2006, in a year where Democrats almost regained the majority in the House. Amy Salerno
Amy Salerno (born October 17, 1956) is a former Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1995 through 2002. Her district consisted of a portion of Franklin County, Ohio. She was succeeded by Dan Stewart. Salerno was a judge in the Franklin County Municipal Court in Columbus, Ohio from 2005 until she was defeated for re-election by a wide margin by Jessica D’Varga on November 5, 2019. Life and career Salerno grew up in Boardman Township near Youngstown, Ohio, and graduated from Boardman High School. She graduated with a BA from Youngstown State University in 1979 and a JD from the Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University in 1982. Charleta Tavares
Charleta B. Tavares is a former member of the Ohio Senate. She represented the 15th District from 2011 to 2018. Her district included much of central Franklin County, including the cities of Bexley and Grandview Heights with the majority encompassing the historic neighborhoods of Columbus, Ohio. Tavares previously had served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1993 to 1998. Ohio Senate
The Ohio Senate is the upper house of the Ohio General Assembly. The State Senate, which meets in the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, first convened in 1803. Senators are elected for four year terms, staggered every two years such that half of the seats are contested at each election.
