Dan Skogen
Dan Skogen (born December 14, 1957) is a Minnesotan politician and a former member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 10, which includes all or portions of Becker, Otter Tail and Wadena counties in the northwestern part of the state. Education and professional career Skogen grew up near Phelps Mill in Maine Township. He graduated from Battle Lake High School and has an audio communications degree from Thief River Falls Technical College. He is the sports director at radio stations in Wadena. He resides near Hewitt with his wife, Dee, and has two children. Service in the Minnesota Senate A Democrat, Skogen was first elected in 2006. Cal Larson
Calvin R. "Cal" Larson (born August 10, 1930) is an American politician who served as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1967 to 1974 and Minnesota Senate from 1987 to 2006. Early life and education Born in Glyndon, Minnesota, Larson graduated from Badger High School in 1948 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College. Larson then served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Career Larson was first elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1967, with a Nonpartisan Election–Conservative Caucus party affiliation. Phelps Mill
Phelps Mill is a flour mill in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, United States, on the Otter Tail River. The mill was built in 1888–1889 by William E. Thomas, a local entrepreneur who owned a flour and feed business in Fergus Falls. During that time, wheat was a high-demand crop, and nearly one thousand flour mills were in operation throughout Minnesota. Thomas began constructing a wooden dam on the river in the spring of 1888, although the dam was prone to leakage and had to be shored up with sandbags, dirt, gravel, and other materials. The mill itself was built by Royal Powers, who built and framed the mill without using blueprints. He was able to keep the entire plan within his head and did not even have to mark out the lumber he was cutting. The mill opened in October 1889 and was designed to produce 60 to 75 barrels of flour per day. Bill G. Ingebrigtsen ( ; born March 26, 1952) is a Minnesota politician and member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, he represents District 8, which includes parts of Douglas County, Minnesota, Douglas and Otter Tail County, Minnesota, Otter Tail counties in the west central part of the state. Wadena ( ) is a city in Otter Tail and Wadena counties in the State of Minnesota. It is about one hundred sixty miles northwest of the Minneapolis – Saint Paul metro area. Wadena County ( ) is a county in the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 14,065. Its county seat is Wadena. History The newly organized Minnesota Legislature created the county on June 11, 1858. A settlement began at the future city of Wadena in 1871, and by 1873 a post office was in operation there. The settlement was designated the county seat when the state legislature organized the county on February 21, 1873. The town took the name of a trading post 15 miles (24 km) to the east, which had flourished for several years but was largely abandoned by that time.
