Dan Reid
Daniel Spencer Reid (born July 25, 1944) is a Canadian physician and politician. He represented the electoral district of Pictou West in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1974 to 1978. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. Reid was born in Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia
Middle Musquodoboit is a rural community in the Musquodoboit Valley region of Nova Scotia, Canada within the Halifax Regional Municipality, along the Musquodoboit River at the junction of Route 357 with Route 224, from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Harvey Veniot
Harvey Alfred Veniot, (November 18, 1915 – October 2, 2009) was a lawyer, judge and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Pictou West in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1956 to 1974 as a Progressive Conservative member. Veniot was born in Pictou, Nova Scotia, the son of Alexander R. Veniot and Gladys Maclean, and was educated at Pictou Academy, St. Francis Xavier University, Dalhousie Law School and the University of Saskatchewan. He was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 1940. Veniot married Rhoda Marion MacLeod in 1944. Political career Veniot served as a town councillor in Pictou from 1945 to 1946. In 1953, he was an unsuccessful candidate for a seat in the provincial assembly, losing to Liberal incumbent Stewart W. Proudfoot by 9 votes. The Nova Scotia Liberal Party is a centrist provincial political party in Nova Scotia, Canada and the provincial section of the Liberal Party of Canada. The party currently forms the Official Opposition in Nova Scotia, under the leadership of Zach Churchill. The party was in power most recently from the 2013 election until the 2021 election. The Executive Council of Nova Scotia (informally and more commonly, the Cabinet of Nova Scotia) is the cabinet of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Almost always made up of members of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly, the Cabinet is similar in structure and role to the Canadian Cabinet while being smaller in size with different portfolios. The Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, as representative of the King in Right of Nova Scotia, heads the council, and is referred to as the Governor-in-Council.
