Dan Glading
Dan Glading (born December 17, 1986 in Bethesda, Maryland) is a lacrosse player, nicknamed Danny Glading who played at the University of Virginia and currently plays in Major League Lacrosse for the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Danny Glading played in high school for Georgetown Prep, a school regularly nationally ranked in lacrosse. Glading played attack for the Virginia Cavaliers from 2006 to 2009, leading the team to an NCAA Championship in 2006. He was named an All-American three times by the USILA and was a finalist for the 2009 Tewaaraton Trophy, given annually to the nation's best lacrosse player. Glading finished his career ranked in Virginia's top ten in goals (seventh), assists (tied for fifth), and points (tied for fifth). Washington Bayhawks
The Chesapeake Bayhawks were a Major League Lacrosse (MLL) professional men's field lacrosse team based in Annapolis, Maryland since 2010. They played in the greater Baltimore metro area beginning with the MLL's inaugural 2001 season, as the Baltimore Bayhawks from 2001–2006 and as the Washington Bayhawks from 2007–2009. They won six Steinfeld Cup titles, the most of any MLL franchise. Tewaaraton Trophy
The Tewaaraton Award is an annual award for the most outstanding American college lacrosse men's and women's players, since 2001. It is the lacrosse equivalent of football's Heisman Trophy. The award is presented by The Tewaaraton Foundation and the University Club of Washington, D.C. Lacrosse is the oldest sport played in North America and the award honors the Native American heritage of lacrosse in the name of its award, "Tewaaraton," the Mohawk name for their game and the progenitor of present-day lacrosse. The Tewaaraton Award has received the endorsement of the Mohawk Nation Council of Elders. The All-America designation is an annual honor bestowed upon an amateur sports person from the United States who is considered to be one of the best amateurs in their sport. Individuals receiving this distinction are typically added to an All-America team for their sport. Some sports will have multiple All-America teams and will list the honorees as members of a first team, second team, or third team. As such, All-America teams are composed of outstanding US amateur players. Individuals falling short of qualifying for the honor may receive All-America honorable mention. 2006 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship
The 2006 NCAA Division I men's lacrosse tournament was the 36th annual Division I NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship tournament. Sixteen NCAA Division I college men's lacrosse teams met after having played their way through a regular season, and for some, a conference tournament. The semifinals ( Final Four) and the championship game were played at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in front of 47,062 fans. The Virginia Cavaliers won the national title with a 15–7 win over Massachusetts. Virginia Cavaliers Men's Lacrosse
The Virginia Cavaliers men's lacrosse team represents the University of Virginia in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's lacrosse. The Cavaliers compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and plays home games at Klöckner Stadium, or occasionally Turf Field or Scott Stadium, in Charlottesville, Virginia. The team is coached by Lars Tiffany, who led the team to back-to-back national titles in the 2019 NCAA Lacrosse Championship and 2021 NCAA Lacrosse Championship (the 2020 tournament being canceled due to COVID-19).
