Dan Brand
Daniel Oliver "Dan" Brand (August 4, 1935 – February 10, 2015) was an American wrestler. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was an All-America selection in 1958. He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame as a Distinguished Member in 2011. Brand won a bronze medal in freestyle wrestling (middleweight class) at the 1964 Summer Olympics, which were held in Tokyo. On the way to his medal, he defeated Theuni Van Wyk of the Netherlands, Tasuo Sasaki of Japan, and Faiz Muhammad of Pakistan. He lost his final match to Hasan Güngör of Turkey, who won the silver medal. Before the 1964 Olympics, Brand had won four straight titles in freestyle wrestling at the Amateur Athletic Union National Championships, along with three straight titles in Greco-Roman wrestling. Lincoln County, Tennessee
Lincoln County is a county located in the south central part of the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 35,319. Its county seat and largest city is Fayetteville. The county is named for Major General Benjamin Lincoln, an officer in the American Revolutionary War. History Lincoln County was created in 1809 from parts of Bedford County. The land occupied by the county was part of a land cession obtained from the Cherokee and Chickasaw in 1806. The Lincoln County Process, used in the distillation of Tennessee whiskey, is named for this county, as the Jack Daniel Distillery was originally located there. However, a subsequent redrawing of county lines resulted in the establishment of adjacent Moore County, which includes the location of the distillery. All-America
The All-America designation is an annual honor bestowed upon an amateur sports person from the United States who is considered to be one of the best amateurs in their sport. Individuals receiving this distinction are typically added to an All-America team for their sport. Some sports will have multiple All-America teams and will list the honorees as members of a first team, second team, or third team. As such, All-America teams are composed of outstanding US amateur players. Individuals falling short of qualifying for the honor may receive All-America honorable mention. The designation is typically used at the collegiate level although, beginning in 1957, high school- athletes in football began being honored with All-America status, which then carried-over to other sports like basketball and cross-country running. The 1960 Summer Olympics ( it, Giochi Olimpici estivi del 1960), officially known as the Games of the XVII Olympiad ( it, Giochi della XVII Olimpiade) and commonly known as Rome 1960 ( it, Roma 1960), were an international multi-sport event held from 25 August to 11 September 1960 in Rome, Italy. The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is an amateur sports organization based in the United States. A multi-sport organization, the AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs. It has more than 700,000 members nationwide, including more than 100,000 volunteers. The AAU was founded on January 21, 1888, by James E. Hasan Güngör
Hasan Güngör (5 July 1934 – 13 October 2011) was a middleweight Turkish wrestler (79 kg before 1961, 87 kg after 1961) and a wrestling coach. He won a gold medal at the 1960 Olympics and a silver medal at the 1964 Olympics, as well as multiple medals at the World, European and Balkan championships. After retiring from competitions in 1967, Güngör worked for more than 20 years as a coach of the junior and senior national teams. Güngör was married and had three children.
