Damien Houlihan
Damian Houlihan (born 30 July 1975) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Australian Football League (AFL). Houlihan was the first of a set of four brothers to be drafted to the AFL. His younger brothers Adam and Ryan also became league footballers and another brother Josh was briefly on St Kilda's list. A forward, he was picked up by Collingwood with the 15th selection of the 1992 AFL draft. He kicked three goals with his first three kicks in league football, against Geelong at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. In his fifth AFL game, against Adelaide, he was awarded three Brownlow Medal votes, despite having just 12 disposals. He missed three matches mid season after being suspended for striking Richmond player Chris Naish. By the end of the year he had played 11 games and a back injury would ensure he never made it into the park in 1995. Wahgunyah Football / Netball Club is an Australian Rules Football club based in North Eastern Victoria that currently competes in the Tallangatta & District Football League. Club history The town of Wahgunyah has had an Australian rules football team since 1877 and Wahgunyah's first recorded match was against Corowa (a return match) on Saturday, 16 June 1877, played "on the hill" in Corowa, with Wahgunyah winning the first encounter by three goals to nothing. Chris Naish
Chris Naish (born 27 September 1971) is a former Australian rules football player who played in the Australian Football League (AFL), for Richmond Football Club from 1990 to 1997 and Port Adelaide from 1998 to 1999. AFL career Richmond career (1990–1997) Originally from Wangaratta, Naish won the 1988 Ovens & Murray Football League Rookie of the Year award and represented Victoria in the 1988 Teal Cup. Naish was part of a talented batch of juniors, earning All-Australian selection along with Wayne Carey, Robert Harvey and Jose Romero in 1988. Naish was considered an inventive and clever forward while playing for Richmond and he earned a spot in the Victorian state of origin side. Tatura is a town in the Goulburn Valley region of Victoria, Australia, and is situated within the City of Greater Shepparton local government area, north of the state capital (Melbourne) and west of the regional centre of Shepparton. The Keilor Football Club, nicknamed the Blues, is an Australian rules football club located in Keilor, Victoria, north west of Melbourne. The club originated in 1877, formed at a general meeting at the Waggoner's Arms Hotel. In 1926, the club became a founding member of the Keilor and Broadmeadows Football League, winning premierships in 1926 and 1928. Since 1932, the club has competed in the Essendon District Football League and today fields teams in the Premier Division (seniors), Reserves Premier Division and Women's Premier Division, as well as a number of junior squads. Doug Strang
Francis Douglas Strang (12 July 1912 – 28 March 1954) was an Australian rules footballer who played as a full forward in the VFL between 1931 and 1935 for the Richmond Football Club. Family He married Ina Lillian McCullough, at Geelong on 18 November 1937. He was the brother of dual Richmond premiership player Gordon Strang, St Kilda footballer Colin Strang, and South Melbourne footballer Allan Strang. He was the father of dual Richmond premiership player Geoff Strang, and the uncle of Richmond premiership player John Perry. Ovens & Murray Football League
The Ovens and Murray Football Netball League (O&MFNL) is an Australian rules football and netball competition containing ten clubs based in north-eastern Victoria, the southern Riverina region of New South Wales and the Ovens and Murray area. The name comes from the Ovens River, the river in the part of north-eastern Victoria covered by the league, and the Murray River, which separates Victoria and New South Wales. The league features three grades in the Australian rules football competition, with these being First-Grade, Reserve-Grade and Under 18s. In the netball competition, there are four grades, with these being A-Grade, B-Grade, C-Grade and Under 16s. Currently a home and away season consisting of eighteen rounds is played.
