Damien Angove
Damien Angove (born 18 December 1970) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). Angove was recruited from Old Paradians and played four senior AFL games for Sydney, all in the second half of the 1992 AFL season, 1992 season. Angove played in the SANFL with Port Adelaide Football Club (SANFL), Port Adelaide after leaving Sydney. He played 51 senior games with Port Adelaide from 1993 to 1996. In 1997 he played for Port District Football Club in the SAAFL before being appointed coach in 1998. Angove was a playing coach for 3 years which included a premiership in his 1st year. The Sydney Swans are a professional Australian rules football club based in Sydney, New South Wales. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Swans also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). 1992 AFL Season
The 1992 AFL season was the 96th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured fifteen clubs, ran from 21 March until 26 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top six clubs. Prior to the season, the AFL ceased its role as the administrative body for football in Victoria after 95 years: this role was transferred, along with control of the reserves competition, to the newly established Victorian State Football League (VSFL). Subsequently, the Victorian AFL clubs' under-19s competition was dissolved, and zone-based recruiting was abolished.
