Entre Lagos
Entre Lagos is the main town of Puyehue commune in Osorno Province of Los Lagos Region, Chile. It is east of Osorno, next to the entrance of the Pilmaiquén River at the western end of Puyehue Lake. It is the only town of any size on the lake. Due to Entre Lagos's location between Puyehue Lake to the north and Rupanco Lake to the south, the town takes its name from its geographical position between the lakes (in Latin ''inter lacus''). It was originally known as "El Desague" and had a ferry that ran the length of the lake to the Termas de Puyehue resort area. Los Lagos Region
Los Lagos Region ( es, Región de Los Lagos , ''Region of the Lakes'') is one of Chile's 16 regions, which are first order administrative divisions, and comprises four provinces: Chiloé, Llanquihue, Osorno and Palena. The region contains the country's second largest island, Chiloé, and the second largest lake, Llanquihue. Its capital is Puerto Montt; other important cities include Osorno, Castro, Ancud, and Puerto Varas. The mainland portion of Los Lagos Region south of Reloncaví Sound (Palena Province) is considered part of Patagonia. Puyehue Lake
Puyehue Lake (), (Mapudungun: ''puye'', "small fish" and ''hue'', "place") is an Andes, Andean Foothills, piedmont lake on the border of Los Lagos Region with Los Ríos Region of Chile. Puyehue is a lake of glacial origin. Several times during the Pleistocene glaciations, the lake depression was occupied by a large glacial lobe of the Patagonian Ice Sheet, which formed a series of moraines along its western shore. The lake has an east-west elongated shape with Fresia Island in the middle and two minor peninsulas pointing toward the island, one from the north and one from the south. The lake has a remarkably smooth shoreline, with only one inlet of significance: Futacullín Bay on the south. Entre Lagos at the western end is the only town on the lake.
