Dalmacio Langarica
Dalmacio Langarica Lizasoain (5 December 1919 – 24 January 1985) was a Spanish professional road racing cyclist during the 1940s and 1950s and a directeur sportif in the 1970s. Langarica rode to victory over 23 stages and across to win the sixth edition of his country's Grand Tour, the 1946 Vuelta a España. He was accompanied to the podium by runner-up Julián Berrendero, third place Jan Lambrichs, fourth place Manuel Costa and defending champion Delio Rodríguez in fifth place. At the 1948 Vuelta, Langarica tried desperately to best eventual winner Bernardo Ruiz but suffered a bad fall during the stage between A Coruña and Ourense. He ended finishing fourth overall and second in the climbers classification. Basauri
Basauri is a major municipality of Biscay, in the Basque Country, an Autonomous Community in northern Spain. The town is a part of the Greater Bilbao conurbation, being only a few kilometers south of Bilbao. It is an industrial town that also includes monuments such as the tower-house of Ariz. It holds the only prison in the province, located where the rivers Nervión and Ibaizabal meet. The municipality has 40,589 inhabitants (2019). The 1970 Tour de France was the 57th edition of the Tour de France, one of cycling's Grand Tours. It took place between 27 June and 19 July, with 23 stages covering a distance of . It was the second victory for Belgian Eddy Merckx, who also won the mountains classification, and nearly won every major jersey for a 2nd year in a row but finished second in the points classification behind Walter Godefroot by five points. The previous year only one rider was able to keep him within 20:00 and in 1970 a mere four other riders were within 20:00, with only debutant Joop Zoetemelk finishing inside 15:00 of Merckx. King Of The Mountains
The King of the Mountains (KoM) is an award given to the best climbing specialist in a men's cycling road race; in women's cycle racing, Queen of the Mountains (QoM) is used. While the title may be given to the rider who achieves the highest position over several designated climbs in a single-day road race, it is more usually applied to stage races (for example, the Grand Tours, Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta a España, and smaller races like the Tour of California) where points are accumulated over the duration of the whole race. In the Tour de France, where it is officially known as the Mountains classification, at the top of each significant climb, points are awarded to the riders who are first over the top. The climbs are categorised from 1 (most difficult) to 4 (least difficult) based on their steepness and length.
