John Wesley Dafoe
John Wesley Dafoe (8 March 1866 – 9 January 1944) was a Canadian journalist. From 1901 to 1944 he was the editor of the '' Manitoba Free Press'', later named the ''Winnipeg Free Press''. He also wrote several books, including a biography of Sir Wilfrid Laurier. Dafoe was one of the country's most influential and powerful journalists. During his tenure, the ''Free Press'' was among the most important newspapers in Canada and was considered one of the great newspapers of the world. Byron Dafoe (born February 25, 1971) is a British-Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He was born in Worthing, England, United Kingdom and moved to Comox, British Columbia with his mother at the age of two months. Between 1992 and 2004, he played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Washington Capitals, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins and Atlanta Thrashers. Donald Christian Dafoe is an American surgeon and research scientist. Biography The eldest son of a surgeon, Dafoe graduated from Appleton West High School in Appleton, Wisconsin, in 1967, where he was on the football and wrestling teams. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he received his undergraduate degree in zoology and his medical degree. He became a transplant surgeon after training in surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and now works at University of California Irvine Medical Center in Orange, California, where he is chief of transplantation surgery. Dr.Allan Roy Dafoe, OBE (29 May 1883 – 2 June 1943) was a Canadian obstetrician, best known for delivering and caring for the Dionne quintuplets, the first quintuplets known to survive early infancy., page 373. Biography Dafoe was born in Madoc, Ontario, the son of a physician. He trained in the same profession and, in early 1909, he went into practice in Callander, Ontario, where he resided for the rest of his life. On 28 May 1934 he assisted in the multiple births of the Dionne family, that saw the survival of the mother and all the children. This got international press notice. He continued to help care for the children for years, and became something of a celebrity in the onslaught of media attention. Frances Dafoe
Frances Helen Dafoe, (December 17, 1929 – September 23, 2016) was a Canadian pair skater. She was born in Toronto, Ontario. She competed with Norris Bowden. The couple captured four Canadian titles and two World Figure Skating Championships, and won the silver medal at the 1956 Winter Olympics. Following her skating career, Dafoe worked as an Olympic judge and costume designer. She worked for CBC for nearly 40 years designing costumes for various shows, and she also designed the performers' costumes for the closing ceremonies at the 1988 Winter Olympics. Doctor Colin Scott Dafoe (21 November 1909 – 29 July 1969) was a Canadian surgeon, best known for his work with Marshall Josip Broz Tito's Partisans in Yugoslavia during the Second World War. His three-men medical team was parachuted to Eastern Bosnia on 12 May 1944, and he remained in the country for the following six months. Mission Dafoe was a World War II Special Operations Executive (SOE) medical and military expedition to assist Yugoslav Partisans in Eastern Bosnia. Dafoe was born in Madoc, Ontario, the son of a prosperous hardware merchant. The Dafoe family was well established in the area and had already produced one visibly successful son in John Wesley Dafoe, editor-in-chief of the Manitoba (later Winnipeg) Free Press from 1901 until his death in 1944.
