Trenton, Georgia
Trenton is a city and the only incorporated municipality in Dade County, Georgia, United States—and as such, it serves as the county seat. The population was 2,195 at the 2020 census. Trenton is part of the Chattanooga, Tennessee–GA Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Founded in the 1830s, the area was originally known as Salem. In 1839 Salem was designated the seat of the newly formed Dade County. It was renamed Trenton in 1841. The present name is a transfer from Trenton, the state capital of New Jersey. The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) is an organization that governs athletics and activities for member high schools in Georgia, USA. GHSA is a member of the National Federation of State High School Associations. The association has 463 public and private high schools as members. GHSA organizes all sports and academic competitions as well as overseeing registration, training, and approves local area sports officials associations to administer regional athletics and activities per member schools. Membership Membership to the GHSA is voluntary and open to every high school in the state of Georgia, although participating private schools must have at least 150 students in their high school. Ashley Houts (born December 31, 1987) is an American professional basketball player most recently with the Washington Mystics of the WNBA. High school career Ashley Houts attended Dade County High School where she played basketball. During her attendance she was elected to play the McDonald's and WBCA High School All-American games and was also named second-team All-American by Parade and Sixth-team by Street & Smith's. She is a two-time All-American honoree who led the Georgia Metros to the 2005 national title in Orlando as well as the U.S. Junior Nationals in Washington, D.C. As a senior, she was named Homecoming Queen and made Miss Dade County High as a senior. Following her graduation in 2006 her "23" jersey was retired by Dade County.
