Georgia High School Association
The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) is an organization that governs athletics and activities for member high schools in Georgia, USA. GHSA is a member of the National Federation of State High School Associations. The association has 463 public and private high schools as members. GHSA organizes all sports and academic competitions as well as overseeing registration, training, and approves local area sports officials associations to administer regional athletics and activities per member schools. Membership Membership to the GHSA is voluntary and open to every high school in the state of Georgia, although participating private schools must have at least 150 students in their high school. Many private schools that do not enter the GHSA compete in the interscholastic organization of the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA). Carl Harrison High School, commonly known as Harrison High School or simply Harrison is a grades 9- 12 public high school in Kennesaw, Georgia, United States. History The school was named for Carl J. Harrison, a member of the Cobb County Board of Education, a member of the Georgia House of Representatives, elected in 1975, and later a Senator in the Georgia State Senate, elected in 1983. The 2011 movie, " The 5th Quarter", was based off of true events that occurred in 2006, in which a member of Harrison High School's lacrosse team was killed in a car accident due to careless driving from classmates. North Cobb High School is a public high school located north of Atlanta in Kennesaw, Georgia, United States. It serves approximately 2900 students in the Cobb County School District, with classes from grades 9 to 12. The school mascot is the warrior and the school colors are navy blue and orange. Kennesaw Mountain High School is a public high school located in Kennesaw, Cobb County, Georgia, United States. It was founded in 2000 as a magnet school specializing in science and mathematics, and is one of sixteen high schools in the Cobb County School District. History Students Kennesaw Mountain High School was founded in 2000. The high school, built on a site, was intended to have a capacity of 2,000 students, but due to the rapid population growth in Cobb County, the school quickly became overcrowded. Before the school was built, juniors, as opposed to freshman and sophomores, from Harrison High School (the main output) were given the choice whether to stay at their current school or change to Kennesaw Mountain. Grayson High School is located in Loganville, Georgia and has an enrollment of over 3,100 students. The school pulls students from many areas of southeastern Gwinnett County, mainly Grayson, Loganville, and Lawrenceville. North Paulding High School
North Paulding High School is a public high school in Dallas, Georgia, United States. The school mascot is the Wolf. History The school was built due to overcrowding in Paulding County. Paulding was listed as the eighth fastest growing county in the nation from 2000 to 2009, with a population growth from 81613 residents in 2000 to 136,655 in 2009. North Paulding was projected to open in 2008, but due to over-crowding in the nearby East Paulding High School, it opened a year early. In the school's first year, North Paulding only taught freshmen and had to use Sammy McClure Middle School as its teaching facility until the actual high school building opened in 2008.
