Dacian Varga
Dacian Şerban Varga (born 15 October 1984, in Petroșani) is a Romanian footballer who plays mainly as a midfielder. He is the son of Ioan Varga, a former player of Dinamo Bucharest. Career Childhood Varga began his football career at the age of 8, when his father took him at an indoor-football club based in Deva, a neighbour city of Petroșani. He played for this club until 1996, when he moved at Dinamo Bucharest's youngsters. Dinamo Bucharest At the age of 12, Varga moved to Dinamo's youngsters. He was trained by two former glories, Gheorghe Mihali and Iulian Mihăescu. He became national champion with his teammates before moving to another football club based in Bucharest, Sportul Studențesc. Petroșani
Petroșani (; Hungarian: ''Petrozsény''; German: ''Petroschen'') is a city in Hunedoara County, Transylvania, Romania, with a population of 34,331 (2011). The city has been associated with mining since the 19th century. History "Pietros" means "stony, rocky" in Romanian. The city of Petroșani was founded in the 17th century (around 1640) with the name Petrozsény. In 1720, an Austrian cartographer mentions that the entire Jiu Valley was intensely populated and settlements could be seen from one end to the other. During the 1818 census, Petrozsény had 233 inhabitants, while the entire Valley counted 2,550. During this time, the main activity of the people was shepherding and no urban settlement had appeared yet. Costin Lazăr (born 24 April 1981) is a Romanian former footballer who played as a defensive midfielder for teams such as Sportul Studențesc, Rapid București, PAOK or FC Voluntari, among others. Lazăr has been capped with Romania at senior level. Club career Sportul Studenţesc Until 2006, Lazăr enjoyed a successful spell at Sportul Studenţesc. Stelian Stancu (born 22 September 1981) is a Romanian former footballer who played as a right back or right midfielder for teams such as Sportul Studențesc, Steaua București, FC Timișoara, Khazar Lankaran or Academica Clinceni, among others. Club career Stancu made his debut playing for Astra Ploiești in 2000, before being loaned to Metalul Plopeni and joining the squad of Sportul Studențesc of Bucharest in 2002. After Sportul was relegated, he joined Steaua București on 31 August 2006, where he appeared in 17 league matches. FC Politehnica Timișoara
Fotbal Club Politehnica Timișoara (), commonly known as Politehnica Timișoara or simply Poli Timișoara, was a Romanian football club from Timișoara, Timiș County, established in 1921 and dissolved in 2012. During its existence, the team won two Cupa României trophies and was twice runner-up in the Liga I. It amassed 49 seasons in the latter competition. The Liga 2, most often spelled as Liga II, is the second level of the Romanian football league system. The league changed its name from Divizia B just before the start of the 2006–07 Liga II, 2006–07. It is currently Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by Casa Pariurilor, a betting company with the official name Liga 2 Casa Pariurilor. Format Divisions Since its inception in 1934, Liga II had between 2 and 9 parallel divisions, with clubs divided based on geographic regions. The Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1, is a Romanian professional league for men's association football clubs. Currently sponsored by betting company Superbet, it is officially known as the SuperLiga. It is the country's top football competition, being contested by 16 clubs which take part in a promotion and relegation system with the Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table.
