Da Click were a UK garage group which consisted of DJ/producer Pied Piper (Eugene Nwohia), emcees Creed (Christopher Reid), PSG (Paul Gabriel) and Unknown MC (Ronnie Nwohia), and singer Valerie M (Valerie Malcolm). They are best known for their UK chart hit single " Good Rhymes", which reached No. 14 on the UK Singles Chart in January 1999, and spent 6 weeks on the chart. Their second single, "We Are Da Click" was a top 40 hit, peaking at No. 38. "Good Rhymes" interpolates "Good Times" by Chic and " Never Too Much" by Luther Vandross. "We Are Da Click" interpolates "Funkin' for Jamaica (N.Y.)" by Tom Browne. UK Garage
UK garage, abbreviated as UKG, is a genre of electronic dance music which originated in England in the early to mid-1990s. The genre was most clearly inspired by garage house, but also incorporates elements from dance-pop, R&B, and jungle. It is defined by percussive, shuffled rhythms with syncopated hi-hats, cymbals, and snares, and may include either 4/4 house kick patterns or more irregular " 2-step" rhythms. Garage tracks also commonly feature 'chopped up' and time-stretched or pitch-shifted vocal samples complementing the underlying rhythmic structure at a tempo usually around 130 BPM. UK garage encompassed subgenres such as speed garage and 2-step, and was then largely subsumed into other styles of music and production in the mid-2000s, including bassline, grime, and dubstep. "Never Too Much" is the debut song written, composed, produced, and performed by Luther Vandross. The R&B song was released in 1981, as the lead single from Vandross's debut album of the same name. The title track hit number one on the US ''Billboard'' Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, reached number four on the US ''Billboard'' Dance Club Songs chart, and peaked at number 33 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The album (Vandross' first as a solo artist) was very popular, especially with Black Radio and R&B Charts. Musical career The group's debut single "Do You Really Like It?" gained the number one spot on the UK Singles Chart for one week from 27 May to 2 June 2001. FFRR Records (sometimes credited as Full Frequency Range Recordings) is a dance music label previously run and founded by English DJ Pete Tong. Originally the dance music label of London Records, FFRR is currently a sublabel of Parlophone, a division of Warner Music Group. The label name references the recording technique (full frequency range recording) developed by Sir Edward Lewis's Decca Records. The original incarnation of FFRR was founded in 1986, and also had two subsidiaries: Double F Double R Records and Ffrreedom Records. "Good Times" is a song by American R&B band Chic from their third album '' Risqué'' (1979). It ranks 68th on ''Rolling Stone''s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, and has become one of the most sampled tunes in music history, most notably in hip hop music. Originally released with "A Warm Summer Night" on the B-side, it was reissued in 2004 with " I Want Your Love" on the B-side, a version which was certified Silver in the UK. Lyrics and inspiration The lyrics include a reference to Milton Ager's "Happy Days Are Here Again". It also contains lines based on lyrics featured in "About a Quarter to Nine" made famous by Al Jolson.
