D.J. International Records is a Chicago record label founded in 1985 that specializes in house music, a type of electronic dance music. In the 1980s, DJ International Records released music by key house innovators such as Frankie Knuckles, Ron Hardy (his 1986 remix of the It’s track “Donnie”), Hot Mix 5 member Farley "Jackmaster" Funk (his 1986 track " Love Can't Turn Around"), Steve “Silk” Hurley (his 1985 "Music Is The Key"), and Marshall Jefferson (his 1986 song " Move Your Body"). DJ International Records also released ESP’s song "It's You", Dymond's " Wild About Your Love" and Liz Torres' " What You Make Me Feel". Tyree Cooper, known as simply Tyree, is an American house producer from Chicago, Illinois, United States. He is best known for the hip house track "Turn Up the Bass", which peaked at No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart in 1989. Biography Tyree Cooper originally left high school in 1983 with a basketball scholarship, however decided to enter into producing house music having also DJ'd. His first release was "I Fear the Night" in 1986 on the DJ International Records record label. In 1987, Tyree released what would become a classic of the acid house scene in "Acid Over". In 1988, Tyree with rapper Kool Rock Steady released the hip house hit "Turn Up The Bass". Tyree now lives in Berlin. Adonis (born Michael A. Smith, current legal name Adonis M. Smith; January 4, 1963) is a pioneering American acid house musician. Adonis is best known for his early Chicago house tracks "No Way Back" and "We're Rockin Down the House". Musical career Born and raised on the West Side of Chicago, Adonis was introduced to music at a young age. He studied contemporary jazz at the American Conservatory of Music. Later on, he played bass guitar in several R&B bands and was eventually introduced to the house scene in Chicago through hearing Jesse Saunders' "On and On". As Michael A. Smith, he was a member of the band Clockwork. They recorded "I'm Your Candy Girl" (1984), a post-disco boogie song. Acid House
Acid house (also simply known as just "acid") is a subgenre of house music developed around the mid-1980s by DJs from Chicago. The style is defined primarily by the squelching sounds and basslines of the Roland TB-303 electronic bass synthesizer-sequencer, an innovation attributed to Chicago producers DJ Pierre of Phuture and Sleezy D. Acid house soon became popular in the United Kingdom and continental Europe, where it was played by DJs in the acid house and later rave scenes.
