DG 307 (band)
DG 307 was a Czech underground rock band founded in 1973 in Prague by Milan Hlavsa and Pavel Zajíček. The group has been inactive since 2016. Overview Bass guitarist Milan Hlavsa and poet Pavel Zajíček launched DG 307 in 1973, taking the name from a psychiatric diagnosis that allowed young men to obtain a blue booklet and thus avoid compulsory military service. Together with the Plastic People of the Universe, a band Hlavsa had also been a member of, DG 307, among other underground ensembles, was a target of persecution by the communist regime. The repression climaxed in 1976, when Zajíček was arrested and imprisoned for a year, allegedly for disorderly conduct. After his release, only two DG 307 concerts took place, in 1979. In 1980, Zajíček emigrated and the group went on indefinite hiatus. Jan Sahara Hedl
Jan Hedl (born 9 January 1957, in Prague), known as Jan Sahara Hedl or simply Sahara, is a Czech singer-songwriter. Among his well-known hits are "Dívka a noc" and "Tisíc jmen". In his childhood he played piano. At the high school, he met Martin Němec and later he founded his first band Duševní hrob with him. In 1982, he founded the band called Precedens together with Němec, who plays keyboards. Hedl left the band in 1984 and in 1994, he released his first solo album ''Tajnej svatej''. In 1995, he released his second album ''Šílené pondělí'', where Precedens served as backing band. His most recent album called ''Matka Zebra'' was released in 2001. Pavel Zajíček
Pavel Zajíček (born 15 April 1951, in Prague) is a Czech poet and musician. In 1973, he founded the experimental band DG 307 (named after the code for the psychiatric diagnosis that would exempt young men from compulsory military service) together with bassist Milan Hlavsa. The band was persecuted by the communist regime at the time, turning Zajíček (or "Pavel Z.") into one of the prominent figures in the Czech underground scene during the 1970s. In 1980, he emigrated from Czechoslovakia and lived in Sweden, and later in the United States. After the Velvet Revolution he returned to Czechoslovakia, where he played with the restored DG 307. His lyrics were also used in recordings by the Plastic People of the Universe (for example "Apokalyptickej pták" from '' Egon Bondy's Happy Hearts Club Banned'').
