The German Geophysical Society (german: Deutsche Geophysikalische Gesellschaft, DGG) is a society for geophysics in Germany; it was founded on 19 Sep 1922 in Leipzig, Germany on the initiative of the seismologist Emil Wiechert, as the Deutsche Seismologische Gesellschaft (German Seismological Society). Among its founding members were also Karl Erich Andrée, , , Beno Gutenberg, Franz Kossmat, , , , , and August Heinrich Sieberg. In 1924, it changed its name into ''German Geophysical Society''. Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft
Deutsche Grammophon (; DGG) is a German classical music record label that was the precursor of the corporation PolyGram. Headquartered in Berlin Friedrichshain, it is now part of Universal Music Group (UMG) since its merger with the UMG family of labels in 1999. It is the oldest surviving established record company. History Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft was founded in 1898 by German-born United States citizen Emile Berliner as the German branch of his Berliner Gramophone Company. Berliner sent his nephew Joseph Sanders from America to set up operations. Based in the city of Hanover (the founder's birthplace), the company was the German affiliate of the U.S. Victor Talking Machine Company and the British Gramophone Company, and, from 1900, a fully owned subsidiary of the latter, but that ended after the outbreak of World War I in 1914 when ownership reverted to Germany. A discrete global grid (DGG) is a mosaic that covers the entire Earth's surface. Mathematically it is a space partitioning: it consists of a set of non-empty regions that form a partition of the Earth's surface. In a usual grid-modeling strategy, to simplify position calculations, each region is represented by a point, abstracting the grid as a set of region-points. Each region or region-point in the grid is called a cell. When each cell of a grid is subject to a recursive partition, resulting in a "series of discrete global grids with progressively finer resolution", forming a hierarchical grid, it is called a hierarchical DGG (sometimes "global hierarchical tessellation" or "DGG system"). Dutch Game Garden
The Dutch Game Garden is a video game studio incubator which was launched in Utrecht, The Netherlands in 2008 using funding from the European Regional Development Fund. The organisation is the largest such program in the Netherlands. History The universities in Utrecht- Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht and Utrecht University had been offering courses in game development since 2002. The Utrecht city council and Dutch government recognised the potential for the rapidly growing video game sector in 2008, which at the time suffered from a lack of visibility in the Netherlands. The only major studio in the country at that time was Guerrilla Games, and so the Dutch Game Garden was conceived as a means to invest in new studios. Red Dog Airport is a private-use airport located at Red Dog Mine, in the U.S. state of Alaska. The airport is privately owned by the NANA (Northwest Arctic Native Association) Regional Corporation. It has one asphalt paved runway designated 2/20 which measures 6,312 x 100 ft. (1,924 x 30 m). As per Federal Aviation Administration records, this airport had 7,968 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2005 and 8,475 enplanements (105 scheduled + 8,370 unscheduled) in 2006. Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, Red Dog Airport is assigned DGG by the FAA and RDB by the IATA.
