DD Girnar
DD-Girnar previously known as DD-10 GUJARATI is the Gujarati language channel of India's national broadcaster, Doordarshan. It is broadcast out of studios at Doordarshan Kendra (Center) in Ahmedabad in Gujarat State. History Doordarshan Kendra, Ahmedabad was set up on 15 March 1976, as a part of the Satellite Instructional Television Experiment SITE Project of ISRO and the 1 KW transmitter was based in PIJ, Kheda District. The studio used to function from the ISRO, Ahmedabad premises, while the administrative office was located in the Polytechnic compound in Ahmedabad. Few years later, a plot of land was identified and a low power LPT was set up in Ahmedabad at Thaltej Tekra on 19 November 1983. The studio was commissioned on 2 October 1987 while the regional language uplinking was started on 30 December 1992. DD Bangla is an Indian Bengali-language free-to-air state-owned television channel owned by state-owned broadcaster Doordarshan Network. It was formerly known as DD-7 and DD National Kolkata. It broadcasts from Kolkata, Shantiniketan and Jalpaiguri. Launched on 9 August 1975, the network's programming consists of soap operas, infotainment series, news and current affairs, social programs and films in Bengali. It is available to 97.1% of the population of West Bengal on terrestrial television. DD Free Dish (previously known as DD Direct Plus) is an Indian free-to-air satellite television provider. DD Free Dish DTH service is owned and operated by Public Service Broadcaster Prasar Bharati. It was launched in December, 2004. In March 2022, It has a reach of over 43 million households which is more than 25% of the total TV households in the country. DD Free Dish earns by selling slots to private broadcasters through e-auctions. Currently, DD Free Dish has 116 television channels, among which 94 channels are in MPEG-2 format and 22 channels in MPEG-4 format. DD Chennai, formerly known as DD Madras, is a state-owned television channel telecasting from Doordarshan Kendra, Chennai. History Doordarshan Kendra Chennai was inaugurated on 15 August 1975. The service had been extended to the entire state in phased manner by installing Terrestrial Transmitters of different capacities (HPTs, LPTs, VLPTs) at different parts of the state. Only one channel with limited time for regional language, that is, Tamil was telecasted, the duration of the entire telecast was not for 24 hours. During 1985, colour transmission was started; in 1988 a second channel was started. Meanwhile, in 1986 Tamil serials were telecasted for the first time. DD Chennai is one of the oldest kendras in the country, having been begun in the mid-1970s.
