Doordarshan (abbreviated as DD; Hindi: , ) is an Indian public service broadcaster founded by the Government of India, owned by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and one of Prasar Bharati's two divisions. DD India is an international state-owned English language news and current affairs channel from India. The service is also aimed at the overseas market, similar to WION, CNN International, BBC World News, DW, TV5Monde, VOA, NHK World, Arirang, KBS World, CNA, RT, RTR-Planeta and broadcast through satellite and cable operators throughout the world as well as online and through its mobile apps. DD News
DD News is an Indian news channel of Doordarshan, it is India's only 24-hour terrestrial TV news channel broadcasting solely in Hindi, and formerly in English. The Prasar Bharati Board approved the proposal to start a 24-hour news channel in place of DD Metro, which was closing. This was subsequently approved by the Union Cabinet in a meeting held on 3 October 2003. DD Metro was converted into a 24-hour TV news channel, into DD News, which launched on 3 November 2003. Its terrestrial reach is 21.6% by area and 44.9% by population of India. In 2019, international sister channel DD India become exclusive channel for English News and Current Affairs from Doordarshan. DD Sports is an Indian sports channel telecasting from Central Production Centre Delhi, India. It is a part of the Doordarshan family of networks, and is the main public sports broadcaster in India. History DD Sports was launched on 18 March 1998. In the beginning, it broadcast sports programmes for six hours a day, which was increased to 12 hours in 1999. From 1 June 2000, DD Sports became a "round-the-clock" satellite channel. Analog television is the original television technology that uses analog signals to transmit video and audio.
