D1ce (, stylized in all caps; pronounced as "The Once") was a South Korean boy band formed by D1ce Entertainment. The group consisted of five members: Jo Yong-geun, Kim Hyun-soo, Jung Yoo-jun, Park Woo-dam and Woo Jin-young. They debuted on August 1, 2019 with the EP ''Wake Up: Roll the World''. The group disbanded on January 20, 2023 following their contract expiration. History Pre-debut Jung Yoo-jun was a contestant in the Mnet survival series ''Boys24'' in 2016, becoming a member of the survival pre-debut team Unit Blue. Park Woo-dam, Woo Jin-young, Jo Yong-geun participated in the Mnet survival series ''Produce 101 Season 2'' in 2017 under Happy Face sub-label HF Music Company. Woo-dam, Jin-young and Yong-geun placed 35th, 40th and 93rd respectively. Woo Jin-young
Woo Jin-young (; born May 31, 1997) is a South Korean singer and rapper. During his tenure as a trainee with Happy Face Entertainment (now Dreamcatcher Company), he was a contestant on the reality survival series ''Produce 101'' and ''Mix Nine'', where he competed to debut in an idol group. He found success in the latter and ranked number one in the competition, but the group never materialized due to failed contract negotiations between the show creator YG Entertainment and the artists' respective agencies. Woo released a collaborative extended play (EP) entitled ''resent' in 2018 with singer Kim Hyun-soo. Woo competed in the rap competition series '' Show Me the Money'' in 2019, but failed to advance past the first evaluation round. He then debuted as a member of D1ce that year. ''Produce 101 Season 2'' () was a 2017 boy group survival reality show on Mnet, and is the second season of the original South Korean version of the franchise. The public (called 'national producers') "produces" a boy group by choosing 11 members among 101 trainees from 54 entertainment companies through online voting and live voting with multiple elimination rounds. The public also chose the group's concept, debut song and group name. In the season finale on June 16, 2017, which was broadcast live, the show announced the final 11 members who would debut as Wanna One. More than 16 million people cast their votes during the finale, equivalent to around 30% of South Korea's population. It provides rankings on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis, which is based on an aggregate of streaming, downloads and background music from major South Korean music platforms. Conscription In South Korea
Conscription in South Korea has existed since 1957 and requires male citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 to perform compulsory military service. Women are not required to perform military service, but they may voluntarily join the military. Establishment The basis for military conscription in South Korea is the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, which was promulgated on 17 July 1948. The constitution states in Article 39, "All citizens shall have the duty of national defense under the conditions as prescribed by Act."
