D1 Recordings
D1 Recordings is an Irish independent techno record label founded in 1994 by Eamonn Doyle. It is named after the Dublin postcode in which it was located and has released music by artists from there and elsewhere. Ian Maleney wrote in ''The Irish Times'' in 2015 that "D1 is considered one of the most important chapters in recent Irish music history". History Doyle worked in the independent music business for 15 years. Around 1993 he and others set up a recording studio in the basement of the building he lived in at 147 Parnell Street in Dublin's north inner city. Some of that music was released on the Dead Elvis indie record label he co-founded and ran. Doyle became a DJ, then founded D1 Recordings in 1994. D1 Recordings also ran a recording studio (d1), record shop and, eventually, a distribution company (Dublin Distribution) all in the same Parnell Street building. Eamonn Doyle
Eamonn Doyle (born 1969) is an Irish photographer, electronic music producer, DJ, and owner/manager of the D1 Recordings record label. He has produced a number of records of his own music. His self-published photo-books include the trilogy ''i'' (2014), ''ON'' (2015) and ''End'' (2016), set in Dublin where he lives. He founded and ran the Dublin Electronic Arts Festival from 2001 to 2009. Red Bull Music Academy
The Red Bull Music Academy (RBMA) is a world-traveling series of music workshops and festivals that was founded in 1998 by Red Bull GmbH. The main five-week event is held in a different city each year. The public portion of its program is a festival of concerts, art installations, club nights and lectures by influential figures in contemporary music. The other part of the program is by invitation only and is held in a building that has been custom-fitted with a large recording studio, a lecture hall, a radio booth and 8–12 bedroom-sized studios. Roger Doyle (born 17 July 1949) is an Irish composer best known for his electro-acoustic work, for which he was made a Saoi of Aosdána, and for his piano music for theatre. Education Born in Malahide, County Dublin, Doyle studied piano from the age of nine. After leaving school he attended the Royal Irish Academy of Music for three years, studying composing, during which time he was awarded two composition scholarships. He also studied at the Institute of Sonology at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands and the Finnish Radio Experimental Music Studio on scholarships. Peter van Hoesen (born 19 July 1970) is a Belgian electronic music producer, composer, DJ and live performer. Biography Van Hoesen was born in Schoten near Antwerp, Belgium and grew up in Antwerp. He attended music academy between the ages of 11 and 14 and in those years started playing the electronic organ, then bass guitar and guitar. He was a member of several bands and played bass and keys. Pan-Pot
Pan-Pot is the name of the Berlin-based techno duo, German DJs and music producers Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix. Since their launch in 2005, Pan-Pot have established their presence in the modern techno scene, reaching popularity with the release of their debut album, ''Pan-O-Rama'', on 's Mobilee label. Their repertoire is defined as being underground music that is independent of specific genres, primarily spanning techno and house whilst including experimental elements and IDM influences. Keith Tucker
Keith Tucker is a DJ and producer of Detroit techno and electro music from Detroit, Michigan. Career Tucker began his career playing cover versions of Juan Atkins' electro hits from the 1980s with his childhood friend Tommy Hamilton. The live ensemble achieved local renown for combining break-dancing, and Tucker's mobile DJing while manually playing repetitive, high-speed synthesizer basslines. They later became known as Regime, then RX-7, and finally, in 1994 they became Aux 88. They were joined by BJ Smith (Posatronix) and Lamont Norwood (DJ Dijital). Tucker's first 12" EP was a collaboration with Juan Atkins and Jesse Anderson, under the name "Frequency" in 1990.
