Aywaille (; wa, Aiwêye) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. On 1 January 2012, Aywaille had a total population of 11,697. The total area is 80.04 km² which gives a population density of 146 inhabitants per km². A redoubt (historically redout) is a fort or fort system usually consisting of an enclosed defensive emplacement outside a larger fort, usually relying on earthworks, although some are constructed of stone or brick. The Battle of Sprimont, or Battle of the Ourthe (18 Sep 1794), was a battle during the War of the First Coalition between a corps of the French revolutionary Army of Sambre-and-Meuse under General Jean-Baptiste Jourdan, and the left wing of an Austrian army under the François Sebastien Charles Joseph de Croix, Count of Clerfayt. Esneux
Esneux (; wa, Esneu) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. On 1 January 2006 Esneux had a total population of 13,072. The total area is which gives a population density of 384 inhabitants per km². The municipality consists of the following districts: Esneux and Tilff. Other villages are Méry and Hony.
